    I think you are being alittle unfair to Underwood. Your article basically started by declaring that Julie was “the perfect Maria”. Well there you go. You need not continue writing really.
    Underwoods lack of acting skill gave the whole production a “live” quality that was very exciteing and a little scary at time. But her feelings were so obvious and her tears were real. So I would argue that she gave it what it needed to go beyond a very expensive soap opera. And you probably should not just throw out what she accomplished singing the score. That is the real reason she was hired and she of course delivered a vocal performance that you pay a lot of money on Broadway to see. I just say give the girl some credit for beng the Maria she was, and then maybe go from there.
