Abby McLaughlin

When did you first begin playing this sport?

Third grade.

Do you want to continue this sport in college?

Yes.

If yes, are you committed for this sport? To what school?

Yes, UMass Lowell.

Who was a prominent coach in your sports career? Why?

My mom was always an inspiring coach throughout my career because she also played in college and always pushed me to be my best.

What other activities/clubs are you involved in?

Soccer.

How do you feel going into this season?

I feel confident we are going to have another strong year coming off of our undefeated season last year, and I can’t wait to see what it brings!

What are some goals set for the team this coming season?/How do you plan to achieve these goals?

I think our biggest goal is obviously to win the state championship since we’ve been unable to do so the past 3 years. We have a lot of young players that are bringing new talent onto the team so I think that they will be key in helping us achieve success. Once we really begin clicking as a team I think we will be very hard to beat.

Who are some big opponents/rivals? Why?

Wellesley, because it will be a rematch of last year’s state championship, and Needham, because they are a very talented team and always bring good competition.

Do you think the team will make tournament/post season? How far do you think you’ll make it?

I think we will absolutely make it into the postseason and we have a very good chance of making it far. We aspire to make it all the way to the state championships, but at the least, we want to make it to the East Finals again.

Nikki Griffin

When did you first begin playing this sport?

I first began this sport in fifth grade.

Do you want to continue this sport in college?

No.

If yes, are you committed for this sport? To what school?

I de-committed from the University of New Hampshire because I decided to focus on my personal life.

Who was a prominent coach in your sports career? Why?

My dad was a huge part of my sports career. He always worked me hard and knew how to make me better as a player and as a person. He took time out of his day to practice with me and my siblings and got us to where we are today.

What other activities/clubs are you involved in?

I was the field hockey captain in the 2018 season.

How do you feel going into this season?

We have a lot of younger players on the team, but they definitely can fill the positions. Our team is strong, and I have a good feeling.

What are some goals set for the team this coming season?/How do you plan to achieve these goals?

My goal for this season is to work together as a team. Never give up, and give everything you got on the field. It starts with working hard at practice.

Who are some big opponents/rivals? Why?

Some big opponents are Wellesley and Needham. They are always a strong team.

Do you think the team will make tournament/post season? How far do you think you’ll make it?

I believe we will make tournament and go far. Since my freshman year, we have made the championship but have lost, and I have a very good feeling this is the year.

Audra Tosone

When did you first begin playing this sport?

Third grade.

Do you want to continue this sport in college?

Yes.

If yes, are you committed for this sport? To what school?

UMass Amherst.

Who was a prominent coach in your sports career? Why?

My dad has coached me since the first time I picked up a stick. He is the person who introduced me to lacrosse, and I will be forever thankful for that. He knows how to push me and keep me confident in myself, which has helped me grow immensely as a player. I can honestly say I would not have so much success in lacrosse if it weren’t for him.

What other activities/clubs are you involved in?

Field hockey and hockey.

How do you feel going into this season?

We lost a lot of starters, so we are counting on underclassmen to step up. Although our team is going to be young, I still feel confident about this season.

What are some goals set for the team this coming season?/How do you plan to achieve these goals?

Obviously, it is always a goal to make tournament and win states, but I think an even more important goal, especially for this season, is to make the younger girls feel welcome.

Who are some big opponents/rivals? Why?

Needham and Wellesley are two very strong teams who are always a challenge.

Do you think the team will make tournament/post season? How far do you think you’ll make it?

Yes, as long as we work hard throughout the whole season, I think we have a chance of making it far.

Sydney Scales

When did you first begin playing this sport?

Fourth grade.

Do you want to continue this sport in college?

Yes.

If yes, are you committed for this sport? To what school?

Boston College.

Who was a prominent coach in your sports career? Why?

Mike Tosone, who is my high school coach, was prominent in my sports career because he encouraged me to consider playing college lacrosse, even when my mind was set on playing basketball in college, and I am very glad he did.

What other activities/clubs are you involved in?

I also play field hockey and basketball, and I am in Spanish Club.

How do you feel going into this season?

I am very excited to start this season. We lost a lot of very good seniors after last year, so I think some teams may doubt our talent, but we have many new underclassmen who are very athletic and look very promising in filling new roles this season.

What are some goals set for the team this coming season?/How do you plan to achieve these goals?

I think our goals are still similar to what they have been the past few seasons. It’s always a goal to win the Bay State Conference, and to make it as far as possible in the playoffs. We plan on achieving these goals by working extra hard at practice and as our coach says, “using what is between the ears.”

Who are some big opponents/rivals? Why?

Some of our biggest opponents this year will be Needham, Wellesley and Foxboro. Needham and Wellesley have always been two big opponents, as they usually have a good team, and we compete with both of them in the Bay State. Foxboro is one of those rivals that we play every year and even though we do not face them in the playoffs, the regular season match-up against them is one we are always looking forward to.

Do you think the team will make tournament/post season? How far do you think you’ll make it?

Yes, I am confident that we will make the tournament. I think people are not going to expect us to go very far after a deep run in the playoffs the last three years; however, I think we are going to continue to surprise people especially with the new talent and athleticism that our new underclassmen bring.
