Despite the spring athletic seasons being canceled due to COVID-19 precautions, the dedication and leadership exuded by the spring sports captains at Walpole High School will still be fully recognized.

When did you first begin playing this sport?

Fourth grade.

Do you want to continue this sport in college?

Yes.

If yes, are you committed for this sport? To what school?

Boston College.

Who was a prominent coach in your sports career? Why?

Mike Tosone was a prominent coach in my lacrosse career. He has coached me all throughout high school and is very motivating, which has really helped improve my game and strive to be the best athlete possible.

What other activities/clubs are you involved in?

Field hockey, basketball, NHS and Spanish Club.

Who have always been some big opponents/rivals? Why?

Needham has always been a big rival because we are always competing against them to win the Bay State, and they always have a good team. Wellesley is also another big rival. They are another team in the conference that usually has lots of talent, and it’s always a competitive game against them.

How has this sport impacted you?

Lacrosse has taught me that hard work really does pay off. I didn’t start this sport until fourth grade and I didn’t even really know that I wanted to play it in college until my sophomore year. I just worked hard and kept trying to improve my skills, and thankfully, people recognized my hard work, and now I will be able to continue this sport in college.

What is one of your favorite memories of this sport?

One of my favorite memories is when my team beat Longmeadow in the state semifinals my sophomore year. We were tied with not much time left. I won the draw and after my team helped get the ball into our offensive end, I scored a goal to put us up one. With seconds remaining, we won the draw again, which secured the win for us and we moved onto the state championship.

What is one of your favorite memories of this sport?

Every year, as a team, we do a scavenger hunt across Walpole, which is a fun activity in comparison to practice every day. Another great memory was winning the sectional finals last year.
