Nearly every summer, a new, unique artist comes to Boston, wowing audiences and bringing their fans together. With an increasing amount of music artists going viral on social media, a new name is always playing shows. The 2025 summer was no different, as events in small clubs or huge venues like TD Garden or Gillette Stadium brought many new and returning names to Massachusetts.
To kick off the summer, The Weeknd sold-out two nights of the “After Hours: Till Dawn Tour” at Gillette Stadium on June 10 and 11. The show had two supporting acts: Mike Dean, a Grammy-winning American audio engineer and record producer, as well as Playboi Carti, an influential rapper, known for his experimental and upbeat production style. The show included The Weeknd’s many viral hits like “Blinding Lights” and “Starboy,” as well as multiple songs from his latest album, “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” which was released earlier this year. The show brought in a variety of fans, and was definitely a hit. The Weeknd will keep going with the “After Hours: Till Dawn Tour” but it will now continue as a world tour.
Later on, Gracie Abrams brought her “The Secret of Us: Deluxe Tour” to TD Garden for two sold-out nights, taking place July 23 and 24. The original “The Secret of Us” tour came to MGM Music Hall at Fenway last fall, but with Abrams’ recent success, she was able to move into a bigger and better venue. She is an extremely unique artist in the music industry right now, she elegantly mixes her raw, unfiltered emotions, with exciting, upbeat pop music. Abrams stunned audiences with hits “That’s So True” and “Close to You,” ensuring a good time for all in attendance. It was truly a can’t-miss event. “The Secret of Us: Deluxe Tour” has now concluded as it was a limited tour, but Abrams will likely return in coming years, as she has already begun hinting at a new album.
Towards summer’s close, Megan Moroney brought her sold-out “Am I Okay? Tour” to Roadrunner in Brighton. Despite starting her music career fairly recently, Moroney’s sophomore album debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 all-genre albums chart in July 2024.
She played two sold-out shows on Aug. 1 and 2 and the shows were high-energy, country celebrations, which left every fan satisfied. The success of Moroney’s album and tour will definitely help kickstart her career for upcoming years. The “Am I Okay? Tour” will continue through October.
Boston had an exciting summer full of dynamic live music and with more tours being announced, it is no secret that Boston will welcome many more up-and-coming artists throughout the next year.
