For the past couple of years the senior class president has organized Senior Assassin. This is an athletic tournament where seniors are randomly given “targets” to spray with water. This is harder then it sounds because as you take aim at your target, you must be aware that your assassin is out there, waiting for you. If you get someone out, then your target tells you who they have, and their target becomes your next victim. The rules are that you cannot get some one while they are in school, at work, in a moving car, or while they are at practice(this includes waiting for their sports bus). Also, you must have a witness to verify your hit. For the first round, you have two weeks to eliminate your target or you are out and then one week for the following person. Whoever is left by graduation,June 7th, will get a share of the cash prize.
Essentially, someone is always watching. Whenever a senior walks outside, he or she must be wary that their assassin could be feet away, waiting for an unsuspecting target to turn his or her back. Many students have already learned the hard way that Senior Assassin is no joke. With a hefty cash prize going to the winner, assassins all over Walpole are taking it to the extreme to “snipe” their targets.
Kristen Desantis was recently soaked by Emily “The Fraz Dawg” Frasier yesterday just outside the side doors leading to the parking lot. Frasier waited stealthily inside of the side doors behind Desantis, and tricked Desantis into thinking that she was hiding, herself. Then, when the coast looked clear, Desantis walked outside, thinking that she was safe. However, as Desantis took her first steps outside, the “Fraz Dawg” pounced, and doused Desantis.
Elliot Bresnahan also had an early round exit. He arrogantly walked into the parking lot yesterday thinking that if his assassin came towards him, he could simply outrun them. Diana Wiseman, though, capitalized on her opportunity and cornered Bresnahan at his car. He was spotted at 2:30 entering the boys locker room, soaked.
The most notable escape thus far, was made by Brian “Sparks” Merrigan. Merrigan made it to his house yesterday evening thinking that he was in the clear. He nonchalantly walked out to his car, and out of the corner of his eye, saw his assassin Kayla Slavin barreling down at him. Merrigan sped off, flying around the front of his house. The first door he tried was locked, though. At this point, most people would give in, but not “Sparks”. He fought on and ran towards an auxiliary entrance, which proved to hold off Slavin, for now.
When the competition began this weekend, most seniors felt safe, knowing that their assassin would have to attack them on their territory, at their house. However, as the school week begins most students are finding it hard to deal with their assassins. Due to the necessity of students to park in the parking lot and then return to their cars after school, many kids have already fallen victim to their attackers. Whether it be by water bottles or super soakers, assassins are on the hunt. So seniors – when you return to your house tonight from your sports game or your after school activity, do not hesitate to survey your front bushes, knowing that your assassin may be watching you.
