It’s February and love is in the air. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, couples are planning their dates, buying their gifts, and creating plans to ensure happy and mushy memories — leaving the lonely people to wonder throughout February if they might possibly find that special someone by next Valentine’s Day. But students at Walpole High school can find their “true loves” for only $2.
Students were able to fill out a 25 question MatchMaker survey given to them by the student council during advisory, who sent them to a professional business. In return students receive a list of their “true loves”. The survey asked students 25 questions touching on the basics: name, gender, age, and personality. Then they were asked what one looks for in a partner. Now, at lunch students will have the opportunity to buy their results which include the categories: matches, compatible friends, and most opposite for their grade and for the remaining grades. Also included are zodiac matches with students and with celebrities, and a mystery section where students are urged to find their mystery match.
Though students may not take their results seriously, it will be interesting to see who one’s perfect match might be. “I’m pumped to see who me and my friends get as matches this year” says sophomore Gracie Nelson. Other students are excited to see who the other categories may include. “I like to see who I get as friends because its cool to see if I am actually friends with the people,” says sophomore Jacqui Stratton. “Its a great idea. You get the chance to know people you usually wouldn’t,” says sophomore Adam Quinlan. People look forward to seeing who their “true” matches will be. Expressions that range from absolutely astonished to even hopeful will be shown throughout the lunchroom.
The MatchMaker survey will be available to students starting on Wednesday February 8th during lunch. Students will not only get to partake in this comical experience, but will also be able to help raise money for the school. For only $2 students can share a few laughs with their friends, make a few embarrassing connections with others they would not normal talk with, and potentially meet their “true love”.
