After being ahead most of the game, the Rebels girls soccer team ended with an unfortunate loss of 3-2 against Norwood Tuesday, September 29.  Despite the slow start out of the gate, both teams managed to quickly up the tempo with a series of five goals and three lead changes. To start off the goal-scoring, new varsity player, Steph DeSantis, directed a great header into the corner of the goal, off of a cross from senior Ali Gallivan. Not losing hope, Norwood came back in the second half to tie the game 1-1. Unwilling to succomb to her team’s biggest rival, sophomore Kerianne Brady ran onto a ball that was sent into space from Christina Freiberger and scored a goal in the upper right corner of the net – a score that put the Rebels ahead 2-1. Norwood strived to score more goals, and managed to scrape a few more off at their home field. At the end of the disappointing loss, Coach Jen Meade reassured the team that “[They] earned [the victory] but [they] just couldn’t win it in the end.”  The Rebels hope to redeem themselves the next time they play Norwood at home on Wednesday, October 28. They are ready to bring everything to the field in order to shut out a team that stole a win away from them that they should have had. With this in mind, the varsity team, trying to keep their heads held high, walked back to the bus full of winning JV players, who ironically, won their game with the same score of 3-2 against a very competitive Norwood JV squad.
