Last night, the Walpole High School Intramural Basketball League Playoff brackets were released (Here’s the link: http://leagueathletics.com/Brackets.asp?snid=jBOK%5F3J5Y&org=wyba.org), and some interesting things are shaping up. What makes this different from past years is the plethora of quality teams that all have a shot at winning the title this weekend. For starters, the two favorites to win the championship, the Lakers and the Spurs, have been placed in separate sections of the bracket, making a meeting in the finals the only possible way these two goliaths of the Rec world could face each other. But it won’t be easy for either team to reach their ultimate goal. For the Lakers, the 76ers and the Mavericks stand in their path to immortality. Also, the Spurs have to look out for the Rockets and the Celtics who are looking for an upset. Despite all the talented teams previously mentioned, the team to watch out for is definitely the Knicks, who sport moderate talent and the easiest path to the finals (First round is against the Magic, the next round—76ers, and from then on, it’s anyone’s game). However, don’t count out anyone, teams like the Sonics, Wizards, and Nuggets can ride their star players to victory. For example, Brad Webber (Sonics), Kyle Donnelly (Wizards), and Aidan Lancaster (Nuggets) all possess the ability to put their respective teams on their back and make a run at the championship. With all the talent and competitiveness of this year’s players, this weekend is really shaping up to be an exciting year for the Walpole High School Intramural Basketball League.
Here’s what to watch for:
