As of last year, Dedham was in third in the Herget division while Walpole followed a few behind at fifth. Dedham’s leading scorer from last year, Patrice Vettori, hit the field again to lead the Dedham Marauders into a 4-1 win against Walpole on Thursday October 1. The Walpole Rebels were down 3-0, but kept persevering. Sophomore Steph DeSantis crossed the ball to new strong freshman forward, Ella McMackin who perfectly placed it the ball into the bottom left corner-making the score of the game 3-1. The Marauders displayed no clemency though, as they scored yet another goal in the last ten minutes. Leaving the field with another loss, the Rebels were more than discouraged and plan to pick up their game in the games to come. Since the Rebels are only half way through their season, they still have hopes of making the tournament if they can excel in their remaining 10 games. Considering the big number of injuries – 3 torn ACL’s and many other minor injuries – the team hopes this disadvantage will not affect the team’s tournament hopes.
