Chris Costello’s 2009 Freshman Football team appears to have more weapons than the United States Army.  Not only can they run and pass the ball, but they find ways to scored on both defense and special teams.  To put it simply, they appear to be able to score at will.  The undefeated squad took on Wellesley on Friday at Turco field.  The Rebels wasted no time before Mike Rando returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown.  After a defensive stop by Walpole, the Raiders punted away to the dangerous returner Rando, who once again brought the punt back for a touchdown, making it 14-0 after Captain Cam Hanley added the extra point.  The score remained the same until Hanley scored on a 5 yard touchdown run midway through the second quarter.  Walpole’s smuggling defense continued to stop any Wellesley threat to score, leaving the score at half-time 21-0.  Even with a big lead at halftime, the Rebels showed no signs of letting up.  In the third quarter, Jared Porack intercepted a Wellesley pass and returned it for a touchdown.  After another Hanley extra point, the Rebels led 28-0.  Near the end of the third quarter, Wellesley tacked on a touchdown, making the score 28-6.  Walpole still wasn’t finished offensively as a 20 yard touchdown run by Kendrick Hood made the score 35-6.  The onslaught finally ended when the time expired in the fourth quarter, making the final score 35-6 and making Walpole 4-0.
