The Rebels finished off their last dual meet of the season with a bang on Tuesday October 20 against the Framingham Flyers bringing their final record to 7-4. Held at Framingham High School, the girls were able to snag 8 out of the top 10 spaces, securing a win.
Junior Courtney Shea stayed up with the top two Flyers throughout the race and beat both of them by the end, coming in first with a time of 18:09 on the 2/95 mile course. After Shea, the Rebels came in strong packs. Juniors Brigette Lawton (19:38) and Elizabeth Jelloe (19:40) completed the race fourth and fifth followed by the next pack consisting of five Rebel runners. Juniors Jocelyn Lydon (19:58), Grace Lynch (19:59), Colby Nadeau (20:00), Kathryn Russo (20:00) and freshman Mary DeBlasio (20:00) strongly rounded out the top ten.
The Rebels beat the Flyers which put their record at 7-4, one of the best girls cross country records seen at Walpole High.
While this is the end of a great season, for the top ten girls this is just the beginning as they move on to the post season. They will be training to run their hardest at the Bay State Conference (Norwood Middle School, October 31) and the Eastern Massachusetts Cross Country Championship (Franklin Park, November 11). In these meets the girls have the opportunity to qualify for states.
