Spoiler alert! Blasting off into a whole new season is the nerdy yet hilarious sitcom, “The Big Bang Theory,” which aired September 27th at 8|7c on CBS. Viewers are eager for the show’s sixth season, which stars four geeky buds: physicist roommates Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons), aerospace engineer/mama’s boy Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg), and socially awkward astrophysicist Rajesh Ramayan “Raj” Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar). Looking for a few hints regarding what to expect from this season? Here is a sneak peak into the lives of CBS’ favorite group of friends from “The Big Bang Theory.”
Throughout their journeys in the previous five seasons, Leonard, Sheldon, Howard, and Raj have painfully attempted to succeed in the ways of love, work, and yes, spending their Friday nights in the local comic book store. Leonard has been on-and-off dating Penny (Kaley Cuoco), his blonde next door neighbor who is currently a waitress but aspires to be a famous actress. Sheldon has— surprisingly— finally found a girlfriend via dating website, and the series introduced neuroscientist Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik). Howard has married his girlfriend Bernadette Rostenkowski (Melissa Rauch), a tiny microbiologist with the voice of a three year-old girl. Unfortunately, Raj has not been so lucky in the romance department.
After Howard and Bernadette’s rooftop wedding at the end of season five, many of the show’s loyal fans wonder what is in store for the newlyweds. Well, after much conflict, the pair will finally find somewhere to live. Bernadette will have to deal with Howard venturing into space as well as the realization that her new husband is constantly full of himself.
As for Leonard and Penny, their relationship will go in different directions, identifying the pair as the typical on-and-off couple. Both will struggle with their emotions, forcing Penny to lean on Amy and Bernadette for support. Instead of Leonard being the one to think things through, it will be Penny, mature as ever. Her maturity is most likely a result of the offer she received to star in a USC student’s film, as it may be her chance to finally accomplish her dream of acting. A new character that will be added to the cast of The Big Bang Theory is Sheldon’s attractive new assistant at the California Institute of Technology, Alex Jensen (Margo Harshman). As co-workers, Alex and Leonard will hit it off right away, making Penny jealous but ready to seriously rethink where her relationship is going.
Meanwhile, Sheldon and Amy will experience some dating difficulties as well. To help their relationship progress at a less awkward pace, Amy decides that she will attempt to seduce Sheldon for at least five more years. Sheldon will essentially remain his usual insane, genius self; for the season will showcase his tendency to randomly shout his trademark catchphrase, “Bazinga!” (to express his excitement). The pair will go through a little bit of a rough patch, but it is nothing serious. Now that Raj will be the only single guy remaining in the group of dorky friends, he will become more and more depressed. Poor Raj most likely will not find his true love this season.
Anticipation for season six of The Big Bang Theory is off the charts. There is just something fascinating about watching four unique physics nerds trying to lead normal lives. For more of “The Big Bang Theory,” fans of the show should tune in every Thursday night to CBS at primetime to see the characters’ crazy antics for themselves.

This season of the Big Bang Theory will answer one question for me: how is Howard going to deal with his wife and his mother? Howard’s mom is so stuck on him that I’m not sure that they will be able to have their own lives. Bernadette expects them to have their own place and rightfully so but I’m sure his mom won’t go along with that. I’ve got my Hopper timer set so I can watch the show when I get home from work. It’s got lots of recording space so I don’t have to rush through what’s already recorded. Howard is going to have to grow a backbone and stand up to his mom. My DISH co-workers are wondering about Penny and Leonard’s relationship and I think that’s going nowhere fast. Penny’s commitment issues are pretty deep.
