One of Walpole Hish School’s most popular events is back for yet another night sure to be filled with hilarious moments and lots of laughter. Jim Spinnato will be back once again for his 8th annual Hypnotist Show to hypnotize and entertain the student body of Walpole High. The Hypnotist show, organized by Student Council, will be at 7:30 p.m. on November 29th in the WHS auditorium. Tickets will be sold at the door for $7 each or $5 with privileges. Tickets will also be sold at lunch on Thursday, which is the only time tickets will be free for students with privilege cards.
Although in past years the senior class has been the only one able to volunteer due to the large numbers of students that want to, this year will depend on the number of people who volunteer. If not many seniors want to participate, the chance to be hypnotized may be opened up to all grades. Generally, about 15 students each year are able to be hypnotized for the audience.
The highlights of last year consisted of one senior believing she was the “laugh police” and continually yelling at the crowd to stop laughing. After several minutes of this, she went so far as to threaten to arrest the entire audience if they wouldn’t stop laughing. At one point, all the students under hypnosis believed that the person next to them smelled irisistably good, and three of the senior boys proceeded to pile on top of one another because they couldn’t get enought of the scent–a hypnosis trick Spinnato has used for multiple years that never fails to entertain the rest of the student body.
Student Council is hoping for yet another successful night and Student Council Publicity Coordinator Jen McDonald said, “Even if the hypnotist is only half as good as last year, it should definitely be a good show.”
