Boys Hockey: Under new head coach Ronald Dowd, the Boys Hockey team came out on fire, beating 25th ranked Natick 4-0. Senior Captain Johnny White scored a goal in the 2nd period assisted by senior Matt Bender. The Rebels dominated the whole night with 4 out of the 5 starters scoring. Also, on Saturday December 15, the team improved to 2-0 with a 5-3 victory over Newton North.
Girls Hockey: Girls Hockey picked up where they left off last season with an impressive win against Natick, prevailing 5-3. Senior Captain Michaela Tosone played extremely well, scoring the first hat trick of the season. Junior Captain Brooke Matherson and Freshman Olivia Macmillan both tacked on a goal to finish the scoring. On Saturday December 15, Girls Hockey improved to 2-0 with a 5-2 win over Newton North. Tosone had another great effort by adding another two goals.
Boys Basketball: On Friday December 14, Boys basketball had a disappointing overtime loss to Natick 67-65 to drop to 0-1. Junior Adam Quinlan had a good performance in the loss by adding 19 points.
Girls Basketball: Girls basketball came out of the gate roaring with a 63-48 win over Natick on Friday Night. Senior Captain Lauren Bodin played excellent, scoring an impressive 25 points. Also, senior Captain Bridget Nicholson had a strong performance.
Boys Indoor Track: Boys Indoor Track had a great victory over Dedham squad to improve to 1-0, winning 81-14. Senior Captain Connor McCarthy ran extremely well, winning the 55m hurdles in a time of 8.17.
Girls Indoor Track: Girls Track opened the season on the right foot with a 70-25 victory over Dedham on Thursday Night. The girls were especially impressive in the 2 mile event and the jumpers. Hiromi Kondo was impressive while placing 2nd in the Long Jump with 14’11.25. Also, on Saturday the girls had their first Invitational Meet. Junior Captain Gina Conti ran very well in the 300m, placing 7 with a time of 43.71.
Wrestling: On Tuesday December 11, the wrestling team hosted Norwood High School, winning 53-30. Sophomore Joe Delaney highlighted the win in the 106lb division by pinning his opponent in 15 seconds. Also, on Saturday in Walpole’s first quad meet of the season they beat Canton, North Quincy and lost a close meet against a strong Hingham team—signifying improvement from last year. Juniors Noah Kung and Trevor Wassel have been posting successful meets so far.
Most Valuable Rebel of the Week: The first MVR of the winter season is senior hockey Captain John White. White has had an impressive start to the season with 2 goals and 2 assists to help lead the Rebels to a 2-0 start. Great job John!
