This week of The Bachelor started off unlike any other previous week on the show. There were two two-hour nights of the overly emotional reality show, airing February 4th and 5th. On Monday, February 4, the twelve remaining women found out that they would be traveling to Whitefish, Montana to continue their romances with Bachelor Sean Lowe.
Part one of week five began with Lindsay, the substitute teacher who stepped out of the limo wearing a wedding dress, receiving a one-on-one date card from Sean. Lindsay and Sean’s date consisted of the two taking a helicopter ride over breathtaking Montana reservations, then getting a semi-private concert with country singer Sarah Darling.
During the first group date of the week, Sean took eight of the women to Glacier National Park for a relay race. Splitting up into two teams, (AshLee F., Catherine, Daniella, Lesley M. versus Desiree, Robyn, Sarah, Selma) the women canoe raced, carried bales of hay, sawed logs, and milked goats. The second group won the challenge, granting them time with Sean while the other group went back to the hotel–only to join the other team and Sean soon enough.
Rounding out the night, Jackie and Tierra joined Sean on the dreaded two-on-one date. The three of them went on a horseback ride across the wilderness, which ended up being the most awkward and tense date of the season. At the end of the night, Sean sent Jackie home and kept Tierra, which left all fans watching the show screaming at their televisions.
The second episode of the special two-night event began with Catherine, a graphic designer, claiming the first one-on-one in Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. Sean and Catherine ventured out into the frigid Canadian winter wonderland, sledded, made snow angels, and playfully pranced around in the swirling snowflakes. Later, the two headed to a glistening ice castle for the usual snuggle sesh.
The next group date of the week included Daniella, Sarah, Selma, Tierra, Lindsay, AshLee F., and Leslie M. The seven women laxly canoed across beautiful Lake Louise with Sean, only to reach the other side finding out that they would be doing a traditional polar plunge in the “just above freezing” water. Selma opted out of the challenge due to the fear of hypothermia. Despite the icy conditions, the rest of the women agreed to jump in along with Sean. Their bravery was commended until another attention-seeking act was performed by Tierra. She rushed over to the medical tent claiming she couldn’t breathe, while looking slightly unresponsive, and then proceeded to have a shivering fit until she was back in the hotel. Oh, and did I mention that the rest of the women were completely fine? That night, Sean approached Sarah, telling her that his feelings for her are fading and that she is not the one for him. In his efforts to keep from leading her on the rest of the week, he sent her home, making Sarah’s departure a truly emotional and heartwrenching one.
Desiree was the lucky lady of the week, grabbing the final one-on-one date of the week (and also her second one-on-one date) with Sean. The adorable duo set off for a day in which they had to repel down a mountain in the Canadian Rockies before reaching their picnic. In the evening, Sean and Desiree talked and had dinner inside–of all places–a tepee.
Unfortunately, Daniella (who never received a one-on-one date) and Selma (who kissed Sean for the first time that night) were sent home after not receiving roses at the rose ceremony. Both women were obviously devastated and heartbroken with the result. And then there were six. Tune in to ABC for the next episode of The Bachelor on Monday, February 11 at 8pm.
