Director of School Nutrition Maria Hall and Ms. Sandra Alison organized the annual Junior Iron Chef competition in the Walpole High School cafeteria on April 14 at 7 pm. The competition consisted of four teams each with their own master chef. These master chefs came from local restaurants—The Raven’s Nest, Easter Pearl, and Farmer in the Dell—and one from the Walpole Public School Nutrition. The winning team was master Chef Vicio Cordon, the Walpole Nutritionist, and his four junior chefs: senior Katie Greulich, and middle students Mark Allen, Gina Destito and Troiana Denham. They prepared and served a three-course meal consisting of tomato sorbet, homemade spaghetti and meatballs, and finally tomato jam turnover with mascarpone cheese spread. After a successful competition and great turn out, attendees can look forward to another Iron Chef event next year.
