Walpole Fall Sports Overall Record (51-22-8)
Golf (11-1) Crushing Norwood with a score of 107-67, Rebels Golf has won eleven matches in a row. With no signs of slowing down, the Rebels take on Framingham in their last regular season match on October 14.
Field Hockey (10-1-1) With twenty-one points under their belt, the Porkers have already made the postseason tournament. This result was not unexpected, for the team has set the bar high by continually making post season appearances and winning the MIAA Div. 1 State Championship back in 2013.
Girls Cross Country (6-1) Similar to the boys, Walpole Girls Cross Country’s meet against Braintree and Needham was rained out and postponed until October 28. At their tri meet on October 7, the Rebels were handed their first loss from Brookline (23-33) but they beat Norwood (15-48).
Girls Soccer (5-4-2) The Rebels tied Natick (1-1) on October 6 in their second match of the season against the Red Hawks. Previously, the team lost (3-0). This improvement was a good sign for the team, for Walpole somewhat controlled the Natick offense as well as notched one of their own goals. The Rebels went on to win against Foxboro (2-1) but lost to Weymouth (5-2).
Swimming and Diving (5-3) Walpole Swimming and Diving currently has a record of 5-3. The team won against AMSA (98-85), but lost to Newton North (94-86). The Rebels take on Framingham on Tuesday, October 13.
Boys Soccer (4-2-5) A little more than halfway through the season, the Rebels currently have thirteen points. With seven games left, the team only needs five more to make the postseason tournament. Based on the last three victories including Norwood (5-1), getting the points needed should not be a problem.
Football (3-2) In their last two games, the Rebels defeated Norwood (34-14), but lost to Wellesley (7-6). Senior running back Steve Cuqua and senior quarterback Tyler Berkland remain sidelined with injuries. The team cannot afford to lose any more games if they plan on making the postseason tournament.
Boys Cross Country (3-4) Walpole’s tri meet against Braintree and Needham was rained out and postponed until October 28. However, the Rebel’s meet against Brookline and Norwood resulted in both a victory and a loss. The team defeated Norwood 19-40 and lost to Brookline 15-48.
Volleyball (4-8) The Rebels defeated Weymouth in dramatic fashion with a 3-2 victory. Their tournament hopes are fading though as there are not many matches left.
