Field Hockey (15-1-2) The Porkers finished their season in strong fashion winning their last five games.  Walpole defeated Framingham (4-0), Milton (2-0), Dedham (6-0), Braintree (7-0), and Norwood (3-0). The Porkers earned the 2 seed for tournament and received a bye in the Preliminary Round. They will take on the winner of Barnstable (15) and Stoughton (18) on Friday, November 6.

Golf (12-1) – Following Walpole Golf’s second place finish in the Division II Sectionals, the Rebels competed in All States this past week. The Rebels continued their momentum and placed third out of twelve teams competing across Massachusetts. Major contributors to the team’s success were senior Tim Bender and junior Andrew Boush, both of who shot 81. Walpole has ended one of their best seasons in history on a high note and look to carry the momentum and success into next season.

Boys Soccer (9-2-7)  With only two losses this season, one to Wellesley (2-1) and one to Boston Latin (3-0), Walpole Boys Soccer is looking as strong as ever heading into this year’s tournament.  Walpole ended their season last weekend with a victory over both Catholic Memorial (3-1) and Bishop Feehan (3-0).  After getting a bye in the first round, the Rebels take on Dartmouth on Friday, November 6.

Girls Cross Country (8-3) The Rebel’s last tri-meet against Needham and Braintree, which had been postponed due to heavy rain earlier in the month, had similar conditions as the Rebels were faced with a freezing downpour. However, the rain didn’t do much to hinder the Rebels, as they were able to set many season bests along with completely sweeping Braintree. Unfortunately, they suffered a tough defeat to Natick 20-37. At the Conference meet on October 31, the Rebels were able to take home a total of 7 medals from the four races. In the varsity race senior Captain Alyssa Murphy took 14th (19:09), followed by Junior Steph Forrester and Sophomore Danielle Borelli consecutively in 21 (19:33) and 22 (19:40). The Rebels look forward to carrying this momentum on to their next post-season races, the Coaches Invitational and the Division III Championship.

Girls Soccer (7-5-5) Walpole’s first game with Interim Head Coach William Wallace at the helm resulted in a 3-1 loss to Dedham. The team then tied their last three games of the season.  The first tie was against Hopkinton (0-0), the second to Braintree (0-0), and then the third to Norwood (1-1).  Walpole’s tie against Hopkinton was especially important, for it qualified the team for the state tournament.

Football (5-2) The Rebels’ playoff hopes unfortunately came to a close last Friday after the team suffered a first round knockout to Stoughton (21-20).  The unexpected loss came after Walpole wiped the floor with a victory over Dedham (41-0) and was awarded the 8 seed.  Despite the seed advantage, Walpole was unable to overcome 9 seed Stoughton’s one point deficit and were eliminated from playoff contention.  The Rebels look forward to their Thanksgiving game on November 26 against Weymouth.

Swimming and Diving (6-6) The Rebels are having a tough finish to their season after suffering four straight losses. Walpole was defeated by Needham (84-94), Wellesley (89-92), Norwood (81-109), and Braintree (89-97).  The team looks to turn their season around and end the season on a high note as they face off against Natick on November 3.  As a whole, Walpole has a handful of athletes advancing on to the postseason meets.

Boys Cross Country (5-6) Boys Cross Country competed in their final conference season meet last Wednesday, October 28, against Needham and Braintree. Like the girls, rain didn’t seem to be a factor and the Rebels put up a strong fight, completely sweeping Braintree, but eventually losing to Needham 16-39. In the conference championship on Saturday, October 31st, the boys took home a total of 2 medals. Freshman Joe McGrath placed 9 in the Freshman race and Junior Luke Berardinelli was the only member of the team to place in the varsity race, coming in 16th with a time of 16:27. The Rebels now look on to the Coaches Invitational and the Division III Championship.

Volleyball (8-12) Rebels Volleyball failed to make the postseason this year; however, they managed to finish the season strong. The team garnered three wins in their last four games of the season. A powerful victory over Dedham (3-0) and two more strong victories over Braintree (3-1) and Norwood (3-1). The only loss was from King Philip in a close match that the Rebels lost only three sets to two. In the end, Walpole Volleyball did not have the best season, but now have more time to move on and focus on how to improve for next year.
