Students and teachers gathered together to celebrate Foreign Language Awards Night (FLAN) in the Walpole High School auditorium at 7 p.m. on May 23, 2017. Hosted by Foreign Language Department Head Lisa Osborne, the evening included a number of entertaining students acts: a presentation from the Mandarin students on their Taiwan trip, a dance to “Elle me dit” by French students, a dance to “Gasolina” by Spanish students, and a performance of “Hello / Goodbye” by Latin students. The evening also included the presentation of student awards for each language, awards which included Top Score, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Honors Certificate. Sophomore Molly O’Connell won the Gold Award for Latin II. “I was not expecting [the award], but I was really proud to receive it,” said O’Connell.
