Meet The Captains: Baseball
Despite the spring athletic seasons being canceled due to COVID-19 precautions, the dedication and leadership exuded by the spring sports captains at Walpole High School will be fully recognized.
Jack Magane
When did you first begin playing this sport?
T-ball.
Do you want to continue this sport in college?
Yes.
If yes, are you committed for this sport? To what school?
Johnson and Wales University.
Who was a prominent coach in your sports career? Why?
Coach Costello and Coach Delaney both have been important in my sports career since I was a young age, and throughout high school, and they are two of the best coaches anyone could ask for.
What other activities/clubs are you involved in?
I was a captain of the soccer team and played basketball.
Who have always been some big opponents/rivals? Why?
Braintree is a historic rivalry for Walpole which is always fun and intense. It is also always nice to beat towns like Wellesley and Natick.
How has this sport impacted you?
It makes me work hard to achieve whatever I want.
What is one of your favorite memories of this sport?
Playing in front of tons of people in the Super 8 with my teammates.

When did you first begin playing this sport?
Nine years old.
Do you want to continue this sport in college?
No.
Who was a prominent coach in your sports career? Why?
Coach Delaney who was my coach for baseball and soccer had a huge impact on my life.
What other activities/clubs are you involved in?
Soccer and STUCO.
Who have always been some big opponents/rivals? Why?
Braintree and St. John’s prep because we always had competitive games along with a lot of beef.
How has this sport impacted you?
Changed my life for the better. I will have the lessons, memories and friends with me forever from this game.
What is one of your favorite memories of this sport?
Hitting a two RBI double against Braintree at Campanelli Stadium to give us the lead and put us in contention for the Super 8, during my sophomore season.
