For many, one New Years resolution may be to step up your fashion sense and stop wearing sweats everyday, but with the freezing temperatures of winter, comfortable clothes can seem like the only option. As we approach the brutal depths of winter in January and February, here are a few ways to stay warm without compromising your fashion sense. 

One clothing item to get your hands on this winter is a sherpa jacket. These jackets have been rising in popularity the past few years, and they are the perfect trendy piece for the cold months. After making a recent comeback, corduroy pants are trendy and the thick corduroy fabric gives a soft, fuzzy texture keeping you warm. Additionally, a selection of different colors and styles makes them perfect for any wardrobe. Wearing corduroy pants on the bottom with a solid color or simple patterned sweater or turtle neck can be a cozy winter look. For days when it feels too cold to change out of your sweatpants, a printed jogger is the perfect option. With the same softness and warmth as regular sweatpants but with a fashionable print on the exterior with patterns ranging from different shades of camouflage and leopard print to all different colors of tye dye. Joggers come in every color and print imaginable and can be paired nicely with a solid color top for a modern look. These pants are available at Target, Old Navy and Garage with prices ranging from $15-$40. 

Another option for cold winter days is a layering outfit. Starting with a basic long sleeve turtle neck as the base, I recommend a solid color or a simple print. Then layering it with a graphic t-shirt or a crew neck that compliments the color or design of the turtle neck. Finally, pairing this with some layered necklaces and a pair of jeans or corduroys is a great way to keep warm with a cute outfit. Layering is the perfect way to enhance your outfit while still keeping you warm.
