Jack Connell Commits to Wentworth Institute of Technology for Division III Basketball
On April 1, 2021, Jack Connell made the decision to continue his athletic and academic career at Wentworth where he will play Division III basketball. At Walpole, Connell has led the boys’ basketball team as captain and guard for the past two years.
Since beginning organized basketball in third grade, Connell has played for various other clubs and organizations.
“I played a little bit of Mass Premier for AAU,” Connell said, “but I was with the program Take Charge for the longest.”
Connell’s parents have shown him a lot of support throughout his career, even through COVID-19 restrictions that unfortunately affected his senior season.
“My dad never missed a game until this year because of COVID-19,” Connell said.
Connell and the rest of the basketball team were lucky to still have a limited season where they went 4-6 including a memorable win against Natick for their senior night.
“We beat Natick and our old coach by 20 on our senior night this year,” Connell said, “and I had 23 points myself.”
When it came to deciding on a school, Wentworth had everything Connell was looking for.
“I chose Wentworth because it was a good fit as they need a guard for the future, they have my major and it is in a great location,” Connell said.
Connell’s hard work and dedication to basketball has helped lead him to take this next step in his future.
“I am most excited to be able to continue my basketball career,” Connell said, “and to play against high level talent.”
