Announced on July 11, the Walpole Public Schools mobile app was released for IOS and Android users. Developed by the Walpole Public Schools System, the app consists of many helpful features for Walpole students, teachers and parents to utilize right from pockets. The app is a similar version of the Walpole Public Schools computer-based website, but proves to be far more accessible for mobile users. Upon first opening the app, users are brought to a home page and are met with a drop-down menu revealing a home, feed, events, staff, documents, notifications, dining, district website, forms and contact section. This way, the recently developed app permits users to discover a large variety of useful information.
The events icon on the app displays all of the important events and days that are to come in all of the district’s schools, even allowing users to easily add these events directly into phone calendars. The dates of these major events are shown and available up until the end of the school year, leaving no last minute realization of an important event. Furthermore, those accessing the app can share an event with somebody else through their phones for convenient sharing of information.
The staff section in the software lays out all of Walpole Public Schools’ main staff, including the business office, central administration, diversity, equity & inclusion staff, English language education, extended day, health services, production, school nutrition, special education, technology and transportation staff. This portion of the app allows users to easily access these staff’s names, phone numbers and email if one needs to contact staff at any time.
The documents section of the app consists of three folders: calendars and times, virtual backpack and other documents. This organized setup allows easy access for viewing important documents. Another category in the app is the included district website, in case users require something that is not available on the app or if one cannot find or access information that the website may have that the application does not.
The dining page reveals upcoming breakfast and lunch menus in all Walpole Public Schools. Users can view the nutritional value of the food being served, and can also see the food’s ingredients in case parents or students have any allergy concerns. An additional feature that was added for users is the ability to enable notifications so that no updates or events are missed. This feature proves itself to be immensely effective as users can view and be informed of important information before even accessing the app.
If a user has a comment or concern regarding the school district or even the app, a forms section is present and is where one can type anything out to send to the district, just a name and an email address is required for this. If Walpole Public Schools continue consistent updates and reforms to the apps, then users can look forward to further advancements and reliability.
