Dylan Bent
What sport are you a captain of? (Please specify Girls or Boys)
Boys Cross Country.
What other activities are you involved in at school? (clubs/sports)
Best Buddies, Student Council and Winter/Spring Track & Field.
Do you plan on continuing your sport in college?
I plan to if there is a club team, otherwise I will continue running on my own.
What are some goals set for the team this upcoming season? How do you plan to achieve them?
We have a really big goal right now of winning the Bay State Herget, our division within the Bay State League, for the first time since 2014. Our next goal is to do really well at Divisionals so we can make it to All States for the second year in a row.
What is your pre-game ritual? (Songs, pre-game meals, etc.)
We have team dinners the night before every regular season meet where we sign up to bring different pasta dishes, pizza, bread, salads, fruit and dessert. The day of a meet I always eat a bagel for breakfast, a peanut butter sandwich for lunch and some snacks such as pretzels, fruit and crackers.
If you could have one faculty member join your team, who would it be and why?
Probably Mr. Gitkind. We have some faculty members as coaches, but I know Mr. Gitkind has experience as a high school runner. He is pretty tall, so he probably has a good stride.
What advice do you have for underclassmen that play your sport?
Be yourself, have fun and work hard. This team is the best decision I have ever made and is a place where I feel safe to be myself. The environment is so fun and I would not be friends with the people I’m friends with if it weren’t for this sport. But the most important part, and what allows this sport to be fun, is working hard. Without hard work, you won’t be able to accomplish the things that you want. Running is difficult, but if you work hard and are determined to do well, then you will be able to.
What team do you look forward to playing this season? Why?
We have a big meet against Weymouth coming up. If we win, we will also win the Bay State Herget for the first time in nine years. It will be a very exciting, but challenging competition.

I participate in the Film Festival.
Do you plan on continuing your sport in college?
Nope.
What are some goals set for the team this upcoming season? How do you plan to achieve them?
Since we moved down to Division II this year, we have a solid shot at winning the divisional title. To be this successful we’ve been working on something called “pack running,” which means keeping our group of top 5-7 runners all together in races. We have a stronger team this year, so we’re hoping to win our league title as well (The Bay State Herget).
What is your pre-game ritual? (Songs, pre-game meals, etc.)
I personally listen to hype music and go to bed super early. We also have team dinners the night before a meet, which are super fun.
If you could have one faculty member join your team, who would it be and why?
Mr. Tringali. He is already our coach, but he is a phenomenal distance runner and it would be really funny if he tried to pass as a high schooler and compete with us.
What advice do you have for underclassmen that play your sport?
Stick with it, listen to your coaches and make sure to have fun.
What team do you look forward to playing this season? Why?
I look forward to competing against Framingham, because our meet with them was postponed until late October when they were originally supposed to be our first home meet.
