Walpole High Schools Community Service Club is back with new and exciting ways to help the community. The club allows students at WHS to volunteer in various activities. Faculty advisors Ms.Wick and Ms.Fallon are continuing to run the club this year. The advisors founded this club after students came back from a trip to Tanzania and wanted to start helping out their community. The club already has many ideas regarding their plans for the 2024-2025 school year, including decorating the town as well as cleaning the community.
“Within the school we clean up the grounds and help out at all activities making sure that they run easily,” Fallon said.
The club has a lot of students who bring ideas to the table who are very interested in helping the community. They also have a student-led social media page showing all the activities they do to help the community.
Their recent post shows their clean up of the school grounds. Students pick up trash all working together to create a cleaner inviterment.
“Anyone is able to join, we take all students at any time,” Fallon said. “It’s geared for anyone who wants to just help their community.”
A regular meeting for club is held in room 2208 every other Tuesday and starts by talking about the upcoming events, who is volunteering and more volunteering opportunities. Sometimes they will move outside of the classroom to do some volunteer work during a meeting.
“Just seeing all the kids help each other and getting a sense of being able to help someone else in the community [is my favorite part],” Fallon said.
If you are interested in joining the community service club please see either Wick or Fallon and they will add you to the google classroom. They are open to new ideas to help the community and hope to see you at the next meeting!
