[nggallery id=2] Lights. Camera. Action. The Walpole High School models were treated like celebrities to the lifestyle of the rich and famous during the first “Walk in Style” fashion show on the evening of February 12, 2009. The event was organized by volunteer mothers, who created a glamorous fundraiser. The proceeds went towards the Post Prom Party, which will be held directly following the prom on May 29, 2009, until the early hours of the morning.
For those who don’t know, the Post Prom Party is a safe option for students to attend because they can all hang out and celebrate together without any risk of getting into trouble, and chaperones are present to preside over the various activities.
The high school students signed up and volunteered to strut down the runway. Allure Boutique and David’s Bridal sponsored the ladies gowns for the evening. Also, the senior girls participating in the show were even more styling as Frank’s Hair Salon provided their services to them. The men sported tuxedos from Men’s Warehouse and Deluxe Tux. The parties were eligible to receive a 10 percent discount off the apparel that they chose to model.
On show night, the auditorium seemlessly transformed from a stage by day to a runway by night. The flashes, the glitter, and the music brought a spectacular atmosphere of entertainment to the audience. Senior Class President Adam Riegel, as the Mastor of Ceremonies, delighted the audience with everything he knew about fashion, sequence and embroidery. There were approximately 40 dresses featured, many of which the ladies were accompanied by a male escort. Even a few teachers were dressed to impress, including special appearances from Mr. Joe Braccini, Ms. Jamie Farrell, Mr. Ben Kampper, and Mr. Dan Mullaney.
The show closed with the finale, where all the girls entered the auditorium from the back, and walked down the aisle where they were brought up on stage by their male escort. All of the participants assembled on stage to celebrate the end of the show with a dance party. The fashion show was a great opportunity for students to see what’s in style for this year’s potential prom attire, and for parents to raise money for the Post Prom Party.
