Like many country singers, Kip Moore was born and raised in the south. He was born in Georgia with five siblings and has been daydreaming about the future since childhood. After graduating college, he moved to a little hut in Hawaii where he took up surfing and backpacking. He finally moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 2004 after his friend urged him to pursue a music career. Now, his debut album called “Up All Night”, released on April 24, 2012, is available on Itunes and in stores across the nation.
After being signed in 2009, it was continuous song writing and recording for Kip. He has released two singles called “Mary Was the Marrying Kind” and “Somethin’ Bout A Truck.” His popularity rose after his recent release of “Something Bout A Truck.” The hit single is widely known to country fans across America, as his upbeat mixture of rock and country music is perfect for the summer. To be able to make it in the country music industry, one needs talent, writing ability, and good looks. Lucky for him, Kip Moore has it all.
The song “Up All Night”, which was written by Kip, describes his emotions about being “up all night” with a girl. It is catchy and romantic, making this song the perfect title track. The album consists of real life experiences from Moore. None of his songs sound the same, which results in one having multiple favorites. “Everything But You” is by far the most quotable song for the summer– for it is about a perfect summer day in which the only thing that would make it better is having that certain girl right beside him. Also under the category of romance is “Where You Are Tonight”, displaying Kip Moore’s thoughts in the middle of the night as he wonders where his loved one is. This song is easy to fall asleep to, but so beautiful that it can make one determined to listen to the whole thing before drifting off to sleep. Track number 5, “Crazy One More Time”, can easily have one thinking it is Bruce Springsteen blasting through their speakers. Not only does it have a Springsteen sound, but it will easily have fans dancing “up all night” long. Finishing off the album is the “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Truck” acoustic, which may be even better than the original— if that is possible. His album is extremely diverse, and the moods of his listeners are switched from sad to happy with each passing song.
However, a turn off for some may be his constant talk of beer, trucks, and love; yet, one would find that the songs are easy to relate to, simply because those things are what summertime revolves around. His raspy whisper in “Hey Pretty Girl” allows the song to be his third radio hit, and it will definitely not be his last. “Beer Money” is an impossible song to get out of one’s head because of its upbeat tune and optimistic lyrics, while his calm and soothing “Faith When I Fall” is the opposite. One will definitely not be hesitant to keep clicking the repeat button in their iTunes library after purchasing the album, as each song does not get old after listening to it over and over…and over. Catchy, beautiful lyrics are included in all eleven songs, and one will want to share the album with whoever is willing to listen to it. Kip can easily bring a pop, rock, or jazz addict to the country genre and leave them begging for more.
For a debut album, “Up All Night” is more than just good. It is definitely in the running for the best 2012 country album, despite the release of multiple new albums from well known country artists. Kip’s success is just beginning, and he will without a doubt be releasing more hits in the future. He may be new to the music industry, but his album “Up All Night” proves that when it comes to writing and performing music, he is no newbie.
