“Pretty Little Liars,” the ABC Family drama, based on the book series by Sara Shepard, is about to begin its third suspenseful season. There have been two successful seasons about four teenage girls with a secret. As the episodes go on, the viewers learn more and more about these secrets. All the secrets contain juicy details about the murder of one of their best friends, Allison. The girls are all receiving messages from an anonymous person, “A,” who is attempting to cause them to believe it is Allison. The second season ended with a cliffhanger where the girls have finally discovered who “A” is.
The show is based around four girls: Aria, Hanna, Spencer, and Emily, who were all connected because of their friend Allison. After Allison disappeared one night, the girls went their separate ways, but were brought together again a year later when her body was found. It wasn’t until Allison’s funeral that the girls were brought together again after receiving a text message from “A” for the first time.
“A” threatens to reveal the girls’ secrets. Spencer’s secret was that she stole her sister’s boyfriend. Aria’s secret was that she knew her father was cheating on her mother with one of his students. Hanna’s secret was that she shoplifts so that her father will show that he cares about her. Emily’s secret is that she kissed Allison a day before she disappeared. Throughout the season, “A” finds many different things to threaten the girls with, whether it be loved one’s safety, or another one of their secrets.
There are multiple people that are suspected to be, “A,” in the girls’ minds. There is Jenna, who Allison and the girls blinded in an accident; Jason, Allison’s brother; Ian, Spencer’s sister’s boyfriend; and Garrett, a police officer who was apart of a group of friends with Jason and Ian.
Now, after a vigorous search, the girls have finally figured out that “A” is Mona, who used to be friends with Hanna, and they have begun to receive texts from “A” again. This reveals that there are people other than Mona behind the mysterious “A.” This new, unexpected twist in the series adds even more problems to the lives of the girls with a secret that still haunts them.
The intense thrill of a show has captured the attention of millions of people. The third season premiered on Tuesday, June 5 with new discoveries about the many people thought to be the mysterious “A.” The girls believe “A” is out of their lives forever, until they had a sleep over where they were drinking and Emily was set up. Emily was found standing over Allison’s empty grave holding a shovel, with no recollection of how she got there. They learned that she received a call that night from Spencer’s phone, but Spencer was asleep, meaning “A” was in her house while they were all sleeping. They do not think that there were any witnesses who saw them all standing at the gave, but they were wrong. One of the girls cars was full of pictures where they were standing in the graveyard, and when the girls saw this, they knew “A” was back and Mona has coconspirators.
These unknown people who are the new “A” are starting the entire cycle over again for the girls. They do not have any clues as to who is terrorizing them once again. The viewers are again, being roped into the mystery behind “A,” proving for a successful third season.
