Raising a family and working a full time job comes with many struggles as well as many laughs. “The Middle” is a television show about a suburban family in the fictional town of Orson, Indiana. Frankie Heck, the leader or the mother of the household narrates the show through her life as a mother struggling to find her dream job while raising three children.
Frankie is a mother of three unusual and hilarious teenagers Axl, Sue and Brick. Recently Frankie got fired from her job at a car dealership where she tried her best to sell cars but failed every time. Frankie’s struggles are always funny and leave the audience laughing non-stop. Mike, Frankie’s husband is an emotionless and laidback father who at times seems to be the only normal one in the family. Mike is a very quiet character but whenever he says something it’s always funny. Axl Heck, the oldest of the three children, is a jock who definitely fulfills the “jock” stereotype. Axl is a star football player, along with basketball and baseball. Just like all jocks, Axl is not the smartest and struggles in school as well with common sense. Sue is the complete opposite of Axl, Sue is a “socially awkward” teenager who cannot seem to find something she is good at. Sue is always smiling and is definitely the most optimistic one in the Heck family. Finally, the youngest and definitely the oddest character is Brick. Brick is known to whisper some words he hears and is always reading a new book each episode. Brick has developed a new tick – he whoops randomly. Brick is such an unusual character that you just laugh whenever he does something because it is always the opposite of what his parents tell him to do.
