For Sean Lowe, love is definitely in the air as he begins his journey on The Bachelor‘s seventeenth season. Fans may remember Sean as the all-American heartthrob hailing from Dallas, Texas, who finished in third place on Emily Maynard’s season of The Bachelorette. Although he was unlucky in love with Emily, this time around Sean gets to make his own choices that will lead up to him finding the girl of his dreams. So far, Sean seems like the most genuine Bachelor the show has ever had. Unlike previous Bachelors, Sean seems to be there for all the right reasons and really does have the best intentions.
First impressions were made between Sean and the twenty-six women during The Bachelor‘s season premiere on January 7th. As the shiny black limos pulled up at the notorious mansion one after another, the women surprised Sean with their creative ways of introducing themselves. One of the first contestants to arrive, Jackie, pulled out a bright red lipstick and kissed Sean on the cheek upon meeting him. Lesley M. walked up with a football, pretended to be a quarterback, and called plays–with Sean at the ready to hike the ball. After she told Sean to call her Des, Desiree took out two pennies so they could make a wish in the fountain together. After a night of continually handing out first impression roses and meeting potential fiancées, Sean told the women that he truly believed his wife was in the room—a good sign considering it was only the first night.
Receiving the the first one-on-one date card was Sarah, an advertising executive who was born with one arm. Sean and Sarah arrived in Los Angeles via helicopter, awaiting a date where they would free fall from a skyscraper down to a bottle of champagne. Later during the week, Sean took thirteen of the women on the season’s very first group date. The women took part in a photo shoot (each of them individually modeling with Sean), competing for the chance to be on three covers of Harlequin romance novels. Being an experienced model herself, Kristy won the three book deal. The final one-on-one date of the week went to Desiree, a bridal stylist. During the date, Sean played a prank on Desiree in an art museum; despite being the butt of the joke, Desiree laughed at herself and went along with it, proving to Sean that she possesses an undeniable sense of humor.
During the third week, Lesley M., a political consultant, snagged her very own one-on-one date with Sean. The pair headed off to Hollywood to the Guinness World Records Museum; however, Lesley did not know until they got there that they would be attempting to set a new world record for “world’s longest on-screen kiss.” Beating the world record by almost a minute, Lesley and Sean were clearly the new record-holders. As for the group date of the week, Sean hit the beach with twelve of the women for a competitive game of beach volleyball. Overall, the date was uneventful, and the game—well, let’s just say it was pretty pitiful, as was when Tierra (seemingly season seventeen’s villan) “fell” down the stairs and slightly hurt her neck in the process. AshLee F., a personal organizer, went on the next one-on-one with Sean, spending a day full of adrenaline and heart racing at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Later, Sean and AshLee ended their day with a private Elie Young Band concert. When it was time for the rose ceremony, Sean took Kacie B. (former contestant on Ben Flajnik’s season) outside the mansion to speak with her before ousting his longtime friend from the show.
In the most recent episode, Selma, a real estate dealer, scored the first one-on-one of the week. Whisking her away in a private jet with him, Sean took Selma to what appeared to be a blistering desert in the middle of no where. The date ended up being an adventurous day of rock climbing. Needless to say, the date went perfectly fine; Selma even impressed Sean with her climbing skills. The corniest date of the week went to the group date that took place. Sean gathered eight of the women and headed to the rink for a roller derby competition. The race did not even end up happening due to one of the girls nearly fracturing her jaw in the practice round.
A one-on-one date inspired by the film Pretty Woman was one that Leslie H., a poker dealer, had always dreamed of. Sean took Leslie out to famous Rodeo Drive for a luxurious shopping spree. However, even though this date started out with Leslie receiving a pair of stunning diamond earrings from Sean, the night ended in heartbreak as Sean admitted he was not seeing the romantic connection between them and denied Leslie the rose.
After the first four weeks of The Bachelor, eleven women are left. Sean will have the chance to find his soulmate amongst them, continuing with the extravagant, lush dates the show has always been known for. Tune in to ABC on February 4th for a special two-night event for more drama, falsified lust, and genuine romance.
