After Super Tuesday and the following primaries, Ted Cruz seems to be the only candidate with a slight chance to beat out Donald Trump for the republican nomination. Cruz’s presidency would be a very welcome change for America as he brings some very conservative ideas which will hopefully improve our country economically and prevent the growth and spread of ISIS.
What has kept Ted Cruz in the running is his experience as a Texas Senator and his ability to avoid stooping to the levels of his opponents like Trump and Rubio who have resorted to name calling. Cruz’s debate skills have also helped him greatly as he has been able to clearly lay out his ideas for America amidst the childish behavior spearheaded by Donald Trump that everyone has come to expect during the GOP debates.
Cruz believes in cutting large amounts of the government to reduce our debt and make the government more of a protector of the people than a support system. One of the most drastic cuts Cruz envisions is disbanding the IRS and imposing a 10% flat tax rate across the nation. This tax plan would help many people get back on their feet who are unemployed because with the reduction in taxes companies would have more money to hire employees and add and improve their workforce. Abolishing the IRS is only one part of a five-part-plan entitled Five for Freedom to cut government spending and save the US $500 Billion over the next 10 years.
In regards to foreign affairs, Cruz believes in increasing aggression against ISIS and stopping the arming of Syrian Rebels because of their propensity to lose their weapons to the enemy. Cruz’s plans for defeating ISIS call for heavy bombing of enemy territory as well as securing the American border to prevent incidents like the Paris attacks from happening in America. Cruz has been quoted saying he wants “to bomb ISIS back to the Stone-Age.” His aggressive attitude is something we need at a time like this. We must destroy ISIS and their way of life before they can destroy ours.
Cruz is a very religious man, and his intense beliefs have alienated him from some voters as they feel he lets his politics be too heavily influenced by his religion. An example of Cruz’ religion meshing with his politics is his plan to cut all funding to Planned Parenthood and his strong stance against abortion. He supports the traditional family and doesn’t waver in these beliefs. This is important in a president as the homosexual and transgender communities have a stronger influence over our nation than ever before, and we as a nation have strayed away from our traditional family values.
With a recent endorsement from Carly Fiorina and with Mitt Romney endorsing a brokered or contested convention, Cruz should pick up a broader demographic that will hopefully help him pick up a few more states. And with big wins recently in Idaho, Kansas and Maine, Cruz finds himself in firm control of second place far ahead of Marco Rubio and John Kasich. More than that though, Cruz stands alone as the only man capable of overtaking Trump for the presidency. Because his policies and patriotism will do nothing but good for our nation as a whole, this country needs a president like Cruz at this time.

Not credible: overlooks his history of homicide.
