A new club has just been established in Walpole High School (WHS) by students. The Bible Club is run by club officers Konstantinos Moustakis, Sophia Calado, Issac Mills and club adviser Peter Salmans. The Bible Club is the first religious-oriented club to be introduced at WHS. The club aims to discuss and educate others in regards to the topics of Christianity and serves as an open space to share opinions, ask questions and discuss the Christian faith.
“Before this year, there was no way for interested individuals to learn about the Faith at our school,” Moustakis said. “With the number of clubs at our school that cater to pretty much any interest, I thought, why not start one to talk about the Christian faith?”
At the beginning of every meeting, the club will offer members a shared prayer, and then switch focus to a discussion on the meeting’s topic, which could include but is not limited to a Bible passage or a discussion on Theology.
“Our club aims to learn and discuss topics in Christianity that many people, Christian or not, can be confused about,” Moustakis said. “And talk about our opinions on questions regarding the Faith that many Christians can and do face.”
The organization welcomes any and everybody and does not exclude individuals based on the fact whether or not they are Christian. One does not even have to be of any faith or any religion for that matter to join and participate in this club. This organization is a place for any student of all grade levels and backgrounds who are interested in learning about the Christian faith or would like to connect with members of Christianity within WHS.
“I believe there should be a way for anyone interested in the Christian Faith to learn more about it,” Moustakis said.
The group first met on Monday, Oct. 23, and will meet every other Monday after school in room 2209. Anybody interested in the club or has any questions can contact club officers Konstantinos Moustakis, Sophia Calado, Isaac Mills or club advisor Salmans.
