Hurricane Helene striked on the night of Tuesday, Sept. 24. The unfortunate natural disaster that wiped out many southern states and lasted five long days until Sunday, Sept. 29. Hurricane Helene caused at least 220 deaths and left 300 people unaccounted for in its remains.
Helene mainly stormed through Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama leaving each of the states in chaos and destruction. Hurricane Helene is currently being considered one of the deadliest US hurricanes ever recorded in the last 50 years due to the extreme damage it has caused. Additionally, dozens of people were left without a home or shelter to protect themselves after the storm.
Thanks to the donations that are being received, the affected states are regaining hope that they can return home. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has delivered 1 million liters of water and 600,000 meals to North Carolina. This donation will help the people in North Carolina by regaining their strength. The 23XI racing team and Micheal Jordan donated 1 million dollars towards the recovery of North Carolina. The donation will help house those who lost their original housing units in the storm. Additionally, thousands National Guard members from across the East Coast assisted during Hurricane Helene, providing support for recovery and rescue efforts to those affected by the storm. Although the storm is over, hundreds of people are still missing and officials have admitted to having difficulties in identifying the found victims. For the victims that survived the storm, the stress and uncertainty of having to rebuild their lives one step at a time is daunting..
