Taylor Swift has taken on performing throughout different cities across the globe, beginning in Glendale, AZ and ending in Vancouver, Canada. Swift has stopped at all different places, from visiting Buenos Aires to Melbourne. She began with a leg of the tour in the United States that ended up lasting around 6 months. Over the past year and a half, Swift has performed over 100 shows around the globe. Different from her previous tours that focus on individual albums, Swift has focused this tour on incorporating songs from each of her albums throughout her entire music career. The Eras Tour has attracted millions of fans from all ages, generating an average stadium capacity of 72,000 people for each show.
When original tickets dropped in November of 2022, many fans struggled to obtain face value tickets. Ticketmaster had been crashing throughout the presale, causing despair and panic among “Swifties” across the U.S. Ticketmaster eventually decided to discontinue the general sale scheduled after overwhelming ticket sales caused a decline in ticket availability. Resale ticket opportunities were given through resell sites such as Stubhub and Seatgeek, but prices had risen high among face value. Resale tickets tended to have obstructed views, but many ended up paying outrageous prices in order to see their favorite singer in concert.
Fans who were able to secure tickets to The Eras Tour opening night in Glendale, AZ were welcomed with an introduction song collage mashing up the names of Swift’s previous eras. The show starts off with songs from her seventh studio album, “Lover”, which was released in 2019. Following, the show goes back to one of her first albums “Fearless”, which consists of fan favorites such as “You Belong With Me” and “Love Story.” The Eras Tour setlist continues to follow through all of her eras besides her first album, which is titled “Taylor Swift”. After Swift performs “Bad Blood” from her album “1989”, she revealed two surprise songs, which are changed for each show. Swift concludes her show with her “Midnight’s” Era. This set list has been repeated for each performance. “The Eras Tour” setlist has been adapted over the two years on tour, as Swift released a new album titled “The Tortured Poets Department.” Swift announced this album after winning “Best Pop Vocal Album” at the 66th annual Grammy’s. The new album featured 16 original tracks, with an added 16 after the initial release. Throughout the tour, Swift was able to profit greatly off ticket sales, merchandise and especially the movie documentary, released on Disney+” dedicated to ”The Eras Tour.” This was released October 13, 2023, which was a two and a half hour film of the full performance. The movie grossed over $267 million throughout its 13 weeks in theaters around the globe.
