Walpole Boys Soccer won their game against Bishop Feehan on Oct. 30 to secure their spot in the State Tournament. The Rebels won 2-0, with goals coming from seniors Conor McDonough and Brendan Hardiman.

Bishop Feehan arrived late causing the game to be pushed back a half hour. This delay may have caused Walpole’s rough start to the game as they did not score the whole first half.

“We got off to a rocky start,” said sophomore Oliver Kelleher, “but we finished strong for sure.”

The Rebels picked up their game in the second half, with the first goal coming from McDonough off an assist by senior Pat Sullivan in the 19th minute. The second goal came after a penalty on junior Danny Colbert gave the Rebels a free kick taken by Sullivan near the Bishop Feehan goal. The ball made it to the feet of Hardiman who scored to give the Rebels a 2-0 lead.

Boys Soccer will soon enter their first playoff game against Oliver Ames High School. The two teams face off on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. in Easton.

“We’re gonna practice hard [to] get ready for Oliver Ames,” said junior John Brady. “We lost to them the past two years in the playoffs, so we’re looking forward to get revenge on them, so we’re [going to] have a lot of motivation going forward in the tournament. ”
