“I am a captain of the softball team.”
What position do you play and how long have you played this position?
“I play middle infield, and I have played this for three years (since my freshman year).”
How long have you played softball for? At what age did you start?
“I have played softball since I was five, so around 12 years.”
How do you feel going into this upcoming season as a captain? How do you feel about having a large leadership role for your team?
“I am excited for this upcoming season. I am excited to have the opportunity to lead this team to be the best, along with the two other captains.”
Do you plan to continue your sport in college?
“Yes, I am playing softball at Saint Michael’s College.”
What are your goals for this upcoming season, and how do you plan on achieving them?
“My goal for the team is to win the Bay State Conference, and have a good bond as a team. My goal for myself is to get 28 hits, because I will have then surpassed 100 hits.”
Do you do any clubs or activities outside of softball? If so, what?
“I am in a few clubs at school: I’m in the Red Cross Club, the Community Service Club and Random Acts of Kindness. Outside of school, I babysit, work at the Paper Store and I help coach youth softball players.”
What is your advice for newcomers in this sport?
“My advice is to put in the work because in softball you only see progress if you work hard. Also, make sure to get close with the team because you spend so much time with them in the season. My teammates have become some of my closest friends.”
What are you looking forward to most this season and why?
“I am looking forward to our games against tough league teams and spending time together as a team at practices, team dinners and team bonding.”
What’s your favorite pre-game meal and do you have a game day routine or superstition?
“Before games I have to have a Dunkin’ refresher and strawberries. I have a belt that I wear to every game and I have since we won the State Championship my sophomore year.”

“Softball.”
What position do you play, how long have you played this position?
“I play shortstop and have played this since second grade.”
How long have you played softball for? At what age did you start?
“I have played softball since second grade, so I have played for about 11 years.”
How do you feel going into this upcoming season as a captain? How do you feel about having a large leadership role for your team?
“I am excited for this upcoming season and I am confident in my ability to undertake a larger leadership role this year.”
Do you plan to continue your sport in college?
“I do not.”
What are your goals for this upcoming season, and how do you plan on achieving them?
“Personally, my goal is to be the best teammate I can be, but a goal for the team is to continue to improve throughout the season. This can be achieved through hard work and practice.”
Do you do any clubs or activities outside of softball? If so, what?
“Yes, I do soccer, Red Cross Club and play club softball.”
What is your advice for newcomers in this sport?
“My advice for newcomers is to work hard and enjoy every day of it because it goes by quickly.”
What are you looking forward to most this season and why?
“I am looking forward to being with the team again because we all have fun together and do not get to see each other every day in school.”
What’s your favorite pre-game meal and do you have a game day routine or superstition?
“My favorite pre-game meal is a cheddar cheese bagel twist from Dunkin’ and on game days I go to dunkin either in the morning or before heading to the field.”
Caitlin Baker
What sport are you a captain for?
“I am captain for softball.”
What position do you play, how long have you played this position?
“My primary position is pitcher, I have been playing this position since I was around 10. One of my other positions is outfield and I have been playing there for around four to five years now.”
How long have you played softball for? At what age did you start?
“I have played softball for most of my life. I started playing when I was 8 years old.”
How do you feel going into this upcoming season as a captain? How do you feel about having a large leadership role for your team?
“I feel excited to be going into this upcoming season as a captain. I know our team will be able to do great things and will always work hard. Having a leadership role is a big responsibility but I’m looking forward to creating a positive team environment.”
Do you plan to continue your sport in college?
“Yes, I plan to play club softball at Assumption University.”
What are your goals for this upcoming season, and how do you plan on achieving them?
“My goals for this season is to keep our streak of Bay State Champions going and make it far in the playoff season. To achieve this, we will all have to work hard in practice, always putting 100% effort in.”
Do you do any clubs or activities outside of softball? If so, what?
“Yes, I also play volleyball.”
What is your advice for newcomers in this sport?
“My advice is to be confident. If you play with confidence you are more likely to succeed. Also I would say don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Everybody makes mistakes and it’s part of the game, just try to move on from any errors.”
What are you looking forward to most this season and why?
“I am looking forward to bonding with my teammates. Friendships are a big part of sports and I think that the more bonded we are as a team the more fun and success we will have.”
What’s your favorite pre-game meal and do you have a game day routine or superstition?
“My pregame meal is a bagel and a refresher from Dunkin’. I don’t really have a superstition but my routine is that after I get into uniform I usually just finish getting ready while listening to music.”
