Meet the Captains: Girls Basketball

Ainsley Dundon

When did you first begin playing this sport?

Fourth grade.

Do you want to continue this sport in college?

No.

Who was a prominent coach in your sports career? Why?

Dave Scales, my metro west coach, because he has been a prominent figure in my basketball career for a while. He made me love the game of basketball while having fun doing it and I owe a lot to him.

What other activities/clubs are you involved in?

Lacrosse, soccer and Spanish Club.

How do you feel going into this season?

Good, we only lost one starter so we already know how to work together well. We did a lot in the off season as well.

What are some goals set for the team this coming season?/How do you plan to achieve these goals?

To get far in the tournament, because we usually do okay in the regular season but get unlucky in the post season.

Who are some big opponents/rivals? Why?

Needham will definitely be a hard game for us because they did not lose a lot of starters either. They are tall and are always a tough opponent for us.

Age four or five.

Do you want to continue this sport in college?

No, I’m just planning on playing intramural basketball.

Who was a prominent coach in your sports career? Why?

Mr. Scales because he coached me in both town and AAU basketball for five years.

What other activities/clubs are you involved in?

Best Buddies, Unified Track, Soccer.

How do you feel going into this season?

I feel good going into the season.  We have six seniors returning and four of our starters returning. Additionally, there are some very good underclassmen that will be good additions to our team. I think we are a very athletic and fast team and should have a successful season.

What are some goals set for the team this coming season?/How do you plan to achieve these goals?

I think our main goal going into the season is to make sure we make tournament.  Beyond that, winning the Herget and going deep into playoffs are also goals of ours. In order to achieve this we need to take every game seriously regardless of our opponent and work hard in practice.

Who are some big opponents/rivals? Why?

Wellesley is a big rival for us because they knocked us out of the tournament last year. Natick and Needham are also rivals because we play them a lot and the games are always very competitive and close.

When I was four years old.

Do you want to continue this sport in college?

No.

Who was a prominent coach in your sports career? Why?

My dad was a very prominent coach in my basketball career. He was the one who introduced me to the sport and helped me grow into the best player possible.

What other activities/clubs are you involved in?

I play field hockey and lacrosse, and I am a member of Spanish club.

How do you feel going into this season?

I feel very excited going into this season. We have a lot of great returners and underclassmen who are all ready to step up and make this a great season.

What are some goals set for the team this coming season?/How do you plan to achieve these goals?

One of our goals every year is to make the tournament. In addition, it would be great to win the bay state and improve our record in comparison to last year.

Who are some big opponents/rivals? Why?

Some of our biggest rivals are Needham and Norwood. We play Needham either twice or three times a year and we are both very similar teams so it’s always a good matchup and intense game. Also Norwood is a big town rival so playing them in any sport is always a big game.
