Season 22 of “The Bachelorette” was originally scheduled to be aired on March 22, 2026, when rumors of physical violence within her family reached the media. Thirty-one- year-old Taylor Frankie Paul has been a single mom for the majority of her child’s life. Having her first child at just 23, she has been providing for her family through her hit television show, “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.”

During her time on the “Secret Lives,” Paul and her boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, often fought. In 2024, the couple welcomed their son, Ever True Mortensen. Since the birth of their son, Paul and Mortensen have been seen fighting on the show many times. Although many fans watching the show believed that they would eventually work through their issues, the two announced their split in late 2024. 

Since Paul took a break from “Secret Lives,” she has spent her time filming her season of “The Bachelorette.” Before the season’s cancellation, Paul spent a month on the show as the main contestant. The show was filmed from October to December of 2025.

“This is going to be unlike any other ‘Bachelorette’ season people have ever seen before,” the host, Jesse Palmer said. 

Paul’s fame started when she was on the Secret Lives. However, her fame became the reason that “The Bachelorette’s” producers became aware of her involvement in physical abuse allegations. 

In recent news, fans have come across a video of Paul throwing a chair and screaming at Mortensen while her child was in the room. Although many people were excited for her debut, the allegations became too much for fans to ignore. 

After fans stumbled across the video of Paul and her former boyfriend physically fighting, her season of the Bachelorette was cancelled. 

Although the season was promised to be the most dramatic season ever, producers realized that Paul’s video would involve the Bachelorette in unwanted legal troubles. 

Despite the background check that the Bachelorette is required to give to all contestants, Paul’s physical abuse case made it to court without the show even knowing about her legal situation.

In many of the episodes of Secret Lives, fans have been on Mortensen’s side because in the video he was seen protecting her child while Paul threw a chair at him. 

Despite “The Bachelorette’s” intent of having a well-known star as their newest contestant, the attention has created a negative reputation for the show’s future. It is still unknown whether the show will skip over Paul’s season and select a new contestant or not.
