Football: On Friday night, October 19, the Rebels played the toughest opponent they’ve seen so far, the Needham Rockets. Going into the game, it was a question mark as to who would come out on top. In the end, it would be the Rebels, by a score of 31-0. Junior quarterback Will Bolster and senior tight end Chris Collins continued to show their chemistry the whole game with Bolster throwing Collins two touchdowns. Junior running back and safety Connor Moriarty ran for 124 yards and had one rushing touchdown.
Field Hockey: On Thursday, October 18, the Porkers played Dedham in what would prove to be a stress-free win. They would win the game by a score of 7-1. On October 15, the Porkers played Notre Dame Academy of Worcester winning by a final score of 8-1. On October 17, the girls played the Milton Wildcats and won 3-0 with junior standout Brooke Matherson scoring another hat trick.
Boys’ Soccer: On October 16, Tuesday, Boys’ Soccer played Milton and lost 1-0. The final goal scored with just two minutes left in the game by Milton was a big letdown to the boys. On Thursday, October 18, they played Dedham, winning by a score of 4-1. Senior Captain John Lochhead scored 1 goal and had 3 assists in the game.
Girls’ Soccer: Rebsoc played Milton last Tuesday, October 16, and beat them by a score of 2-0. They played Dedham, one of the best teams in their league, and tied them 0-0.
Volleyball: The Volleyball Team beat Milton by a score of 3-0 on Thursday, October 18, and defeated Framingham 3-0 on Tuesday, October 16. The win against Framingham gave them the record they needed to get into tournament.
Golf: Golf lost their last match of the regular season to Catholic Memorial by a score of 240-241. Although it was a disappointing loss, it deemed insignificant for the boys enter the postseason with a record of 8-5.
Swim: The swim team recorded two losses this week for the first time in four years. On Tuesday, October 16, they lost to the Needham Rockets. They would also fall to the Wellesly Raiders on Friday, October19, by a score of 86-96. That was their final chance this season to win the Herget title.
Boys Cross Country: The Boys Cross Country team beat Natick 15-43 on October 16 on Natick’s home course. Senior Sean Herlihy took first followed closely by junior Anthony DiVirgillio.
Girls Cross Country: Girls Cross Country won the Herget Title for the first time since 1994! They beat Natick by a score of 25-35 on October 16. Junior Gina Conti finished in second for Walpole with freshman Alyssa Murphy finishing in a close fourth.
Most Valuable Rebel of the Week (MVR): Junior running back Connor Moriarty is this week’s MVR. Connor rushed for 124 yards and one touchdown with senior Captain running back Mike Rando off the field with injury. Stepping it up against a tough opponent, Moriarty deserves this week’s MVR.
Biggest Upset of the Week: The Wellesly Raiders upset the swim team on Friday, October 19, taking away their last chance to win the Herget Title and forcing them to add a third loss to their season.
