10) “All I Want For Christmas Is You”- Mariah Carey
This romantic Christmas carol speaks for itself. Imagine Mariah Carey saying all she wants for Christmas is you. That’s why people like it. One of the catchiest Christmas tunes out there, it scored its spot in our Top 10.
9.) “Christmas Must Be Something More”- Taylor Swift
The lyrics are filled with questions about what people say Christmas is all about, but Taylor helps people recognize that Christmas is something more than presents under a tree and wreaths above a door. Her country-pop genre can be blasted through the house on Christmas morning…and even in June
8.) “Drummer Boy”- Justin Bieber ft. Busta Rhymes
This fun 2011 rap remix of “Drummer Boy” gets everybody in a good mood for the holiday. With it’s speedy raps from the Biebs and Busta, it’s a must have on your Christmas playlist. It even mentions Hanukkah and Kwanza at the end of Busta’s rap, making it a song for everyone!
7.) “Christmas Shoes”- Newsong
This song is a lot different than your typical upbeat christmas carol. It makes you think about the real meaning of Christmas time and can even bring tears to many. It is about a little boy that wants to buy his sick mother a new pair of shoes before she dies, but he doesn’t have enough money. The man behind him (the singer) realizes that giving is what Christmas is all about and helps the boy out. He even says, “I knew that God had sent that little boy to remind me what Christmas is all about.”
With Madonna’s high pitched song, it’s perfect for this flirtatious carol sung towards Santa Claus. She solely recorded it for a charity around Christmas time. The soft song can be played at any time of day in December. Our favorite version of “Santa Baby,” sung by Madonna, scored spot #5 in our top 10.
5.) “Twelve Pains of Christmas”- Bob Rivers
This song can make anyone laugh out loud because it is so relatable. Although we all love the holidays, we have to admit there are some “pains” we must all endure. In this parody of the classical jingle “The 12 Days of Christmas,” each day features a different obstacle sung by an angry voice, which I’m sure can relate to at least one person in your family and if it doesn’t sound like someone, it’s probably you.
4.) “Jingle Bell Rock”- Brenda Lee
Famously sung by Brenda Lee, I can’t help singing this song in the voice of Lindsay Lohan’s. This upbeat carol was sung partially by her in Mean Girls—the dance she and her friends do every year at their annual talent show. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you probably haven’t seen the movie. But, it is the perfect song for Christmas time: fun to sing along to, a pleasure to listen to, and a joy to dance to. Simply said: a classic.
3.) “Hanukkah Song”- Adam Sandler
It’s cheesy lyrics are so unprofessional, which makes it such a funny song. He includes what celebrities are Jewish, and adds “annukah” to random words throughout the song. “Tell your friend veronica, it’s time you celebrate hanukkah I hope I get a harmonica, on this lovely, lovely hanukkah.” Since Jews are often forced to listen to Christmas songs, her adds melody to these “eight crazy nights.”
2.) “Feliz Navidad”- Jose Feliciano
Don’t lie. You started singing the song after you saw the title. Although many people don’t know the actual words or what it really means, everyone likes to listen to it.
1.) “Santa Clause Is Coming To Town”- Bruce Springsteen
The best Christmas carol is sung by the boss himself, Bruce Springsteen. He shows off his vocal talent and makes it his own, even including a saxophone solo. He doesn’t just write phenomenal songs; but, he covers “okay” songs, making them phenomenal.
