Boys Hockey: The boys hockey team started the year off strong as they beat up on a much weaker Brockton team 7-3 on Wednesday January 2. This game helped give experience to some of the younger players as juniors Ryan Brown and Andrew Kelley scored to help put away Brockton. Also, on Saturday the boys tied Milton 3-3 as they came back from a 3-0 deficit led by senior Matt Bender with 2 goals.
Girls Hockey: After a long holiday break the girls hockey team picked up where they left off with a 5-1 win over Milton. Junior Captain Brooke Matherson started the scoring off for the girls as she scored early in the 1st period. Senior Captain Bethany Welch played excellent, only allowing one goal in the win.
Boys Basketball: On Friday night the boys basketball team came out on fire as they beat Wellesley 61-43 to improve to 3-3 on the season. Junior Ryan Fogarty had an excellent performance as he scored 15 points. Also, Junior Ryan Gulley helped jump start the Rebels as he played in his first game after his 5 game suspension.
Girls Basketball: Just like the boys, the girls also beat Wellesley 50-44 in an all around impressive performance from the team. Senior Captain Lauren Bodin once again had an excellent game as she led the team in scoring.
Boys Indoor Track: On Saturday January 6th, the track team had the Auerbach Frosh-Soph meet as they saw great performances from the underclassmen. Sophomore Kevin Faulk had the best performance of the day, as he had a time of 7.33 in the 55meter.
Girls Indoor Track: The Girls Track Team also participated in the Auerbach Frosh-Soph meet as they too had great performances from their younger athletes. Freshman Hiromi Kondo did exceptionally well with a time of 7.93 in the 55meter and had a jump of 14-04 in the long jump.
Wrestling: The wrestling team had a rough match on Thursday, January 3rd as they lost to a Bay State power in Natick by a score of 49-27. Fortunately for the Wrestling team, they bounced back at their quad meet as they beat New Bedford, Stoughton and Xaverian. Juniors Noah Kung, Kyle Robbins, and Trevor Wassel all went 3-0 on the day as they helped contribute greatly in the win.
Gymnastics: The Gymnastics team won their second straight meet in a 126.6-126.2 to win over Norwood on Friday Night. Freshman Hannah Phelan did exceptionally well as she helped the Gymnastics team earn their second win of the season.
Most Valuable Rebel: This weeks MVR is senior Captain Lauren Bodin of the Girls Basketball Team. Lauren has had an excellent season so far as she has been the leading scorer every game and has been the go to player all season. Lauren played a major role in their win against Wellesley and is definitely worthy of being the Most Valuable Rebel of the week.
