It seems that Walpole is becoming a “battleground town,” if there is such a thing, in the race for governor. A visit by Republican candidate for governor Charlie Baker occurred on Saturday, February 27, and Governor Deval Patrick, running for re-election is expected to visit Walpole very soon.
During Saturday’s visit, Baker went to Westbury Farms Restaurant in downtown Walpole, and gave a brief speech about what his priorities will be as governor as they pertain to municipal relief. He also answered questions from the group of town officials and residents who attended. Baker then met with restaurant patrons and then walked to Betro’s Pharmacy in downtown Walpole where he met with owner Peter Betro and customers.
Sources within the Deval Patrick campaign tell us that Governor Deval Patrick will also be visiting Walpole within the next couple of weeks.
