Boys Hockey: Boys Hockey lost to rival Norwood on Friday night in one of the most thrilling games of the season as they lost 3-2 in the first round of the playoffs. This game went back and forth and went in overtime where Norwood notched the game winning goal. Senior John Mcdonald and junior Tommy McNamara scored in the losing effort.
Girls Hockey: Girls Hockey skated to a 2-1 victory over Medfield in their first tournament game on Wednesday night. Junior Jenna Donahue was the star of the game as she scored twice, once at the end of the 3rd period to tie the game 1-1 and once as she scored the game winner in the shootout to help advance Walpole onto the next round. Senior Captain Bethany Welch also play phenomenal as she made many great save to keep Walpole in the game. Also, on Friday afternoon Girls Hockey lost to number 1 ranked Duxbury 1-0, thus ending their season.
Boys Basketball: Boys Basketball had a heartbreaking lose on Thursday night as they lost to Hingham 63-62. This was a tough lose as Boys Basketball had a 17 point lead at half only to see it slowly diminish as Hingham robbed Walpole of a win. Despite the loss, senior Captain John Adams and juniors Ryan Fogarty and Adam Quinlan all had phenomenal games as they hope to continue this success into next season where they will only lose four seniors and one starter.
Girls Basketball: Girls Basketball had a tough time handling Bishop Feehan in their first tournament game as they lost 71-56 thus ending their season. Despite the loss, senior Captains Bridget Nicholson and Lauren Bodin both played extremely well in their last game for Girls Basketball.
Boys Indoor Track: Boys Track sent two athletes to New Englands this past weekend. Senior Captain Connor McCarthy came in 5th in the preliminary round with a time of 7.73 in the 55 meter hurdle but unfortuanately did compete in the finals due to a false start. Senior PJ Hayes did not compete due to his back injury.
Most Valuable Rebel: This weeks Most Valuable Rebel is junior Jenna Donahue of Girls Hockey. Donahue had a huge game on Wednesday night as she scored the tying goal in the 3rd period and the game winning goal in the shootout to help advance Girls Hockey to the next round. Good job Jenna!
