Baseball: Boys Baseball started the season off on a high note as they beat Natick 14-3, forcing a slaughter rule. Senior Mike Gaughan got the win in his outing as he pitched 6 innings while only allowing 4 hits and 3 runs. Also, senior Captains Cam Hanley and John Adams each had a great day at the plate as they had a combined 7 Rbi’s. However, on Thursday afternoon Baseball lost to Newton North 8-5. Also, Boys Baseball bounced back with an 8-5 win over Mansfield with a good outing from senior Tom Farrow.
Softball: Softball beat Natick 6-2 to open the season on Tuesday afternoon. Senior Captain Lauren Bodin had a great day at the plate as she had a home run to lead Walpole to a victory. However, Softball did lose its first game of the season against Newton North 11-5.
Boys Lacrosse: Boys Lacrosse dropped their first game of the season to Dover-Sherborn 8-5 on Wednesday afternoon. Although they lost, senior Chris Frye had a phenomenal game with a hat trick in the losing effort. On Friday afternoon, Boys Lacrosse picked up their first win of the season against Natick 10-6 with excellent goaltending from junior Andrew Blood.
Girls Lacrosse: Girls Lacrosse had a rough start to the season as they dropped their first two games against Natick and Mansfield 10-8 and 12-7. Sophomore Molly Lanahan had a great game against Mansfield, netting a hat trick in the losing effort.
Boys Outdoor Track: Boys Track had a hopeful start to the season as they went 0-1-1 in the first week of the season. On March 28th, Boys Track lost to a tough Weymouth team. Despite the loss junior Myles Cofield had a great showing in the 100 meter with a time of 11.4 placing 2nd. On April 2nd, Boys track took Natick to the wire as they tied them in a Herget matchup. Senior Captain Connor McCarthy won the 200 meter in impressive fashion with a time of 23.5.
Girls Outdoor Track: Girls Track struggled out of the gate as they were defeated in both their meets losing to both Weymouth and Natick. Despite the loss, senior Maddy Shea won the 200 meter against Natick with a time of 28.54.
Boys Tennis: Boys Tennis won their first match of the season as they defeated Catholic Memorial on Tuesday afternoon. Senior Captain Alex Frasier had a great match, winning his match to help get the win.
Most Valuable Rebel: This weeks Most Valuable Rebel is senior Captain Cam Hanley of Baseball. Cam had a great opening week especially in their first game against Natick in which he had a 5 RBI’s. Also, Cam had a great game against Mansfield as he helped Baseball pick up a critical victory. Keep up the good work Cam!
