Baseball: Another exceptional week for the baseball team, beating Dedham on Wednesday, April 24. Although shaky at times during the game, the Rebels won the game 3-2. On that Friday, April 26, the Rebels squared up against the rival Norwood Mustangs. Junior Nick Cordopatri got the start and pitched a good 4 innings allowing just 3 runs. Senior Brendan Donovan would come out of the bullpen for Walpole in the 5th inning and the Mustangs went on a bit of a hot streak, bringing the score to a 8-8 tie in the 6th. After a bit of back and forth scoring, the Rebel’s walked off with the win in the bottom of the 9th 11-10.
Softball: Also on Friday, softball played the Norwood Mustangs. They a hard fought battle with the Mustangs 6-5. Junior Steph Sem pitched a great game, allowing just one run after coming in in the 5th inning.
Girl’s Track: On Wednesday, April 24, the Girl’s Track Team competed against Dedham. They won the meet and junior Jackie Applin PR’d with a time of 13:04 in the two mile.
Boy’s Tennis: Boy’s Tennis lost their first match this past week to a more well rounded Newton North. An outstanding performance by senior Jake Moser was without reward however. This makes their season record 4-1.
Girl’s Tennis: On April 24, the Girl’s Tennis team played against a tough opponent, Newton North. Junior Captain Emily Byrnes was unable to play due to injury. Junior Captain Hannah Miller played well in singles.
Most Valuable Rebel: This week’s Most Valuable Rebel is without a doubt junior Track Team member Jackie Applin. She PR’d in the 2 mile against Dedham this past week with a time of 13:04. Congrats Jackie!
Unsung Rebel(s): The girls of the softball team are this weeks Unsung Rebels. Their competitive game against the Norwood Mustangs was definitely overshadowed by the Baseball team’s battle against Norwood. For this, they deserve this week’s title.
