Football (4-3)–The Rebels suffered a tough luck loss to rival Natick last Friday by a score of 56-55 F/OT. Sophomore Steve Cuqua was a star yet again, as he rushed for over 300 yards on 40+ carries and 6 TDs. Sophomore Lovindjy Salvant also rushed for a touchdown, but neither performance was enough to best Troy Flutie and the Redhawks. Flutie tied the game with 2 minutes left to go in the 4th quarter and Cuqua was stuffed on a 2 point conversion attempt in OT to end the game. The Rebels go into the Division 3 playoffs on Friday, as they take on North Attleborough in North Attleborough.
Boys Soccer (8-7-2)–Boys Soccer qualified for the state tournament this week with three straight victories over Milton, Dedham, and Bishop Feehan, respectively. Senior Captain Bobby Ivatts starred for the Rebels, scoring 4 goals and tallying 3 assists to lead the Rebels into the playoffs. Boys Soccer takes on Norwood today to wrap up their season and await the results of the MIAA Division 2 South draw.
Girls Soccer (5-6-6)–Girls Soccer split their two games this week, leaving their playoff hopes until the last game. Junior Abby McMackin scored the only goal in a 1-0 win against Milton, but Walpole was unable to find the net against a strong Dedham team. The girls need a win in their final game tonight against Norwood, who resides in last place in the Herget with no league wins on the season. However, in their last matchup, the girls fell behind early and pulled out a narrow victory late off of goals from senior Captains Karalyn Kickham and Abbey Smith.
Field Hockey (18-0-1)–The Porkers wrapped up another undefeated season with wins against Dedham and Norwood. Norwood provided an uncharacteristic challenge for the Porkers, only trailing 2-1 at halftime, but senior Caroline Feeley scored a hat trick in the last ten minutes of the second half to lead Walpole to a comfortable 7-2 victory. The Porkers await the Division 1 South draw to see who’s in their bracket.
Volleyball (10-6)–The Rebels snapped a 3 game losing streak with wins over Milton and Dedham this week, which clinched a playoff spot for the girls. The girls have their senior night against Norwood today at Elm at 5:30, and wrap up their season on Tuesday against Marshfield, whom they beat 3-2 in their last matchup.
Golf–The Golf team competes in States today at Blackstone National Country Club. Freshman Andy Boush; sophomore Tim Bender; juniors Jack Donnelly, Andrew Abbott, and Mike Mazzotta; and senior Rob Boush all tee off in a shotgun format in an effort to bring home the first ever Golf State Championship.
Swimming (8-4)–The Rebels beat Braintree in their last matchup, a close meet that only went nonscoring after the breaststroke, the second to last event. Junior Mary Hinton qualified for sections in the 100Y breaststroke, capping off a solid performance and season for the Rebels.
Girls Cross Country (8-3)–The girls repeated as Herget Champions for second year in a row with their easy victory over Framingham. At the Bay State Conference Meet on Saturday, they finished 3rd overall behind Needham and Weymouth. Junior Allie Morris finished 6th in the league, with seniors Jackie Applin and Kristen Coyne rounding out the top 3 with 15th and 20th finishes, respectively.
Boys Cross Country (7-4)–The Rebels took home 2nd place in the Herget and 5th in the Bay State Conference Meet this Saturday. Senior Pat Connell was the only top-20 finisher for the Rebels, as they placed ahead of all the teams they beat and behind all the teams they lost to, predictably.

The senior Captain stepped up for the Rebels when they needed it the most, scoring a goal 20 seconds into the Milton game before adding another and 2 assists. He was also featured in the 2 Rebel goals against Dedham, scoring a penalty kick and assisting senior Robby Ellis on the game winning goal. However, no contribution was more important than his game-winning goal against Bishop Feehan that put the Rebels into the playoffs.
