So your mom is baking cookies and as she turns away, you try to steal some of the dough out of the bowl without her noticing. Unfortunately, she catches you and yells that the dough is not to eat. Now honestly, I am sure all of us have been in this situation before, yet we continue to do it because isn’t the cookie dough SO much better than the actual cookies? I don’t know why, but there is just something about the dough that is so much more delicious. So if you are anything like me, I have a recipe for cookie dough, specifically for eating, that is perfect for you!
To create this long-awaited treat that I am sure many of you have been looking for, all you need is six easy ingredients: butter, brown sugar, vanilla extract, salt, flour, and milk. In addition, the hardest aspect to this recipe is that you will need an electric mixer, for it is very important to the initial part of the recipe. However, I am almost positive a mixer is something all of you have around the house.
To start, you will need your mixer and medium sized bowl. With the mixer, cream together 1 softened stick of butter (I find you can either leave the butter out for about 30 minutes, or put it in the microwave for about 15 seconds) and 3/4 cups of brown sugar (make sure it is packed tight). When using the mixer, I suggest to use a low speed because the ingredients generally mix together nicely. Once the two are mixed, you can add in 2 teaspoons of vanilla and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
At this point, you are done with the mixer and will not need it for the rest of recipe. From now on, I recommend using a a wooden spoon because it works best for this recipe. The next step is to add 1 cup of flour. You can put it in the bowl with your already mixed ingredients. Because the flour is dry, the mixture will become crumbly at this step, but don’t worry because it supposed to look this way (trust me). The last step to create your dough is to add in the milk. You can pour in 2 tablespoons of milk and again mix with the wooden spoon. After it is all mixed, the final product is your cookie dough (it should look exactly like you expect cookie dough to look).
Even though you now have your dough, what are cookies without chocolate chips? Personally, I add about a 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and mix them into the dough. However, I suggest just sprinkling some in and stopping when the amount is to your liking. Also, you do not NEED to use chocolate chips in at all, you can add anything! M&Ms, peanut-butter chips, butterscotch, whatever you like! It all depends on what type of cookies you like.
Now that you have added what is one of the most important ingredients, your dough is officially done! You can now eat all the cookie dough you want and not have to worry about your mom getting mad!
