Even though the holiday season is over, we do not have to sacrifice our sweets. We all know we over indulge during that time, but we can still treat ourselves from time to time throughout the rest of the winter. However, now that you have probably had so many of the normal holiday desserts, you’re probably wondering what is even left to have. Well, what is one dessert that you usually can only have in the summer, but is completely worth the wait each year? That’s right, s’mores. To cure that summertime nostalgia, try this recipe!
For this recipe, you need all the s’more essentials: graham crackers, marshmallows, and Hershey’s chocolate bars.
The first way, which uses the oven, starts with the broiler. Make sure to position the oven rack of the top third of oven, that way your marshmallow will be closest to the broiler. Next, place half a graham cracker on a baking sheet and put a marshmallow on top of the cracker. Then, put the baking sheet in the oven and make sure to place it on the top rack that is in the top third of the oven. Now, you can turn on your broiler; however, make sure to keep the door ajar and watch carefully, for this process will only take about a minute. When you notice the marshmallow is golden-brown, take the baking sheet out of the oven.
At this point, you are almost ready to enjoy your s’more. All you need to do now is place three squares of the chocolate bar on top of the marshmallow and top it off with the other half of the graham cracker.
The simpler way to accomplish this recipe is to use the microwave. All you have to do is place a marshmallow on a graham cracker and place the two of these on a plate. Next, put the plate in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Don’t be alarmed when the marshmallow begins to multiply in size, this is supposed to happen (and yes this is very cool). If you like your marshmallows a little browned, you can leave the plate in the microwave for an additional 20 seconds. After, take the plate out of the microwave and just like in the other recipe, top it off with the chocolate and other half of the graham cracker.
Now you can enjoy a summertime snack in the dead of winter!
