Year-long there are various concerts throughout all of Massachusetts to satiate your Indie rock needs. Sure, you could go to a few of those and grab some merch to show how musically cultured you are, or you could go to Boston Calling Festival in May and September.
Saturday, Sunday, and now Friday night as well, obscure Indie groups and more renowned, featured artists converge at City Hall Plaza. Tickets are available for one, two, or all three days. Which ever you choose to purchase, it’s better than purchasing none. If you choose not to attend, you will be left scrolling through Instagram posts from all your friends at the festival who are clearly cooler than you while you cry into a bowl of ramen noodles and listen to spotify.
If you still need some convincing, the playlist below consists music from the featured artists—Death Cab For Cutie, Jack Johnson, Modest Mouse, Tegan and Sara, Edward Sharpe—as well as the lesser known bands—Cass McCombs, Jenny Lewis, Tigerman Woah.
Death Cab delivers a more solemn sound with tracks like “Summer Skin”, while Modest Mouse provides variety with a harder rock sound in tracks such as “Dashboard”. Artists like Edward Sharpe, known for their hit “Home”, give the festival a needed folk vibe.
Now, if you still need convincing after hearing that lineup, then you may want to reevaluate your taste in music, as well as gain an ounce of common sense.
