Boys Basketball (0-2): Walpole lost to Newton North in their opener by a score of 71-46. They got down early to a white-hot Newton North team, and could not overcome the 22 point halftime deficit. Their record is now 0-1 after the loss. They also lost a heartbreaker to Brookline despite the strong shooting of senior Riley Tetreault.
Girls Basketball (2-0): Walpole got off to a hot start in their new campaign with a big win over Newton North. Senior Summer King had an impressive double-double, piling up 23 points and 10 rebounds in the game. Sophomore transfer Kelly Fogarty also had 10 points in the 18-point victory. They also defeated Brookline on Tuesday by a score of 77-43.
Boys Hockey (1-1): Walpole lost their season opener on Saturday by falling to Newton North by a score of 4-1. Through two periods, Newton North hung 3 unanswered goals on the Rebels, until a goal by junior Charlie Harrington on a power play put the deficit back to two. However, Newton North got their fourth after the Rebels pulled their goalie late in the game. Last night, they defeated Brookline by a score of 5-0.
Girls Hockey (1-1): Walpole lost their season opener at home, losing to Newton North 4-1. Senior captain Liv Knight scored the lone goal for the Rebels in the loss. Knight bounced back last night with a hat trick against Brookline to bring them their first victory by a score of 4-2.
Boys Track (1-0): Walpole dominated their opening meet, beating Milton 67-33. Senior Joe Keough ran a 2:41.79 in the 1000 meters, smashing his competition by over eight seconds. The boys 4×400 team won comfortably in the last event of the meet.
Girls Track (1-0): Walpole beat Newton North in a suspenseful season opener, winning by an official score of 52-48. The race came down to the winner of the 4×400, and senior Emma Hunt anchored the race, which Walpole won with a time of 4:21.85.
Wrestling (3-1-1): Under new Head Coach Sean Petrosino, Walpole got off to a solid start in their first quad meet in Foxboro, going with 3-0-1 by beating Newton South, Foxboro and Pembroke, and tying Sandwich. Last night, they lost to Framingham by a score 57-21.
